I have a 2 y/o B7500 hydro with 175 hrs. While using the loader to move snow I have been hearing what seems to be a squealing noise coming from underneath the tractor or from the front end. It only happens when in 4wd and more in reverse. It seems to get louder after working it awhile. I put the tractor on jack stands and ran the tractor in both 4wd and 2wd and the noise would not sound. I checked the fluid level in he front axle and it was about 1/4 qt low and I topped it off. Noise still there. with front end off the ground, both wheels spin free and without any grinding. Anyone else have this problem??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

A very common problem with the B7500 is the hub tension bolt coming loose. It should be torqued about every 50 hours. When it comes loose it creates a squealing/ginding type sound. The bolt can be found on the back side of the hub. It tightens a shim which holds the hub on the axle.

Hope this helps,
Greg

Thanks for the reply, now trying to find the bolt your describing. Took both fron wheels off and every bolt I find feels tight. Still looking.

I should have been more specific. It is the rear hubs. You can do it without removing the wheels.

After reading your reply for a bit, I figured it to be the rear. I found the right one somewhat loose. Tightened it, tried it out and could not hear the noise. When you hear a strange grinding noise, it amazing all the bad thaughts that run through your mind$$$$$. I just keep telling myself that its impossible to kill these machines! Thanks - JB

JB.... You just experienced what I think every other B7500 owner has, or will experience at one time or another. I think we all felt the same relief when it ends up costing us a little elbow grease instead of a few hours of shop time.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

JB,
Another followup. It may be necessary to completely remove the hub and clean them before you can really get a good torque on them. Mine actually came loose enough the first time that I have some wear, which resulted in a slight wobble on my right wheel. I torque it to at least 110lbs. now.

I will have to try that. When I was putting the tractor away last night I could hear the noise. The noise almost sounds like one of the anti scalp wheels on the mower vibrating. Unfortioniatly the mower is in the barn!!! Thanks - JB

Another thing worth mentioning here is I found out that I get a squealing noise under the hood (on the left side near the axle no the b7500 and on the right ride on the bx2200)
It happens only a few seconds after startup while idling during warmup and goes on for about 2 minutes then goes away.
I found that it comes from the engine oil filter.
Kubota part #15241-32093
I bought 23 of these filters because I thought bigger filter means more filter paper inside.
I don't know if the newer smaller style kubota filters also do this.
I noticed the noise on both my bx2200 and my b7500.

So what I am trying to say check this out also.

Grab the roll bar and see it that is the source of the rattle. My B7510 roll bar rattles (almost a buzz at times). I tightened the bolts, helped just a little but still rattles. I have learned to live with it since I know it is not anything serious.

Is there any reason not to use a little Blue locktite on them to prevent this?

It'd be alot harder to remove later... If you get new style hubs this problem has been addressed and they dont seem to have the issue.

Good question..... I'll defer to some more experienced mechanics.... If I understand this process correctly though, the hub needs to be retorqued in the beginning as the parts "seat" with each other. As time goes by this will become less of a problem. In that case, locktite would make sense after the parts have seated, but would be of little value in the beginning. And, actually I am noticing that the last few times I've done it, they have been much tighter than before. I am just a little paranoid after seeing how loose they were in the beginning, so I am retorquing on a regularly basis....

Back to being nervous again. Took wheel off, cleaned, reinstalled and re torqued bolt. Thought it went away but after using the loader to move some stone, the noise came back. More noticeably when in reverse and in 4wd. The noise seem to be comming from the front. Its not a grind but a vibrating squeal is how I would describe it. Any ideas??

Dang..... I was hoping for the easy fix. It's out of my league now.... Wish I could help... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

jbcat2, I believe that my B7500 HST has the same squeal coming from the hydro transmission as yours does. I never noticed this squealing noise until I did the 50 hour service and changed the two hydro filters. The new Kubota left side blue filter was a shorter filter than the original Kubota left side gray filter. This is the only difference that I noticed when I did the 50 hour service. I don't know if this shorter filter is causing the squeal, but that's the only thing that's been changed that's not the same as the original. I get the squeal in 2wd & 4wd, forward & reverse. The farther I push the pedal , the more it squeals. Does not do it at very low speed. When you find out what it is, please post.
Thanks !!

A friend has a B7500 and he was freaking out over a noise in his tractor. We tightened the rear hubs as stated by some earlier post. When it made the noise, it sounded like it was coming from the front and under the tractor. Turns out it is only the front drive shaft rubbing on the plastic cover. It still makes the noise but now he just ignores it. Hope that's all your noise is.

How did you find out that it was the front drive shaft??? That is the area where the noise is comming from. Thanks - JB

He talked to the dealer about the noise and the dealer suggested that might be the problem since they'd seen another one with an unidentifiable noise and that's what it was. Get down low and have someone drive it past and then it is obvious that that is where the noise was coming from. It wouldn't make the noise till it was driven a few minutes and then it would make the sound forward and backward, but the sound was slightly different forward and backward. Hope that's what you are hearing, since the cover is plastic, he just ignores the noise now.
