DaveM, I guess there are many different ways of negotiating prices. Some tell one dealer about the lower offer they've gotten elsewhere (truthfully or otherwise), some make a counter offer to what the dealer quotes, some go with the price the dealer quotes, but try to get the dealer to include things like the 50 hour service, discounts on implements, etc. I guess you're only limited by your imagination. Personally, when I bought my first Kubota, I visited 4 dealers within 75 miles of home, trying to decide just what I wanted. When I finally decided on exactly what I wanted, I called each of those four and simply asked, "What's the best deal you can make on this." I didn't tell any of them I was calling other dealers; I didn't tell any of them what the others quoted. I just bought from the one who offered the best deal. And when I bought my second Kubota, I just went back to the same dealer and asked for the price on the tractor without trade-in and how much trade-in he'd give me. He offered a better deal than I expected and I took it.
