Eddie, in the photos with Oscar inside the swinedominium, he is almost stretching wall-to-wall.....

I know it's really Eddie's decision what to call Oscar's hut, but my vote is "swinedominium".

Really enjoyed reading about Oscar. We've got a sow we've named Wilma that it looks like I'm stuck with. My 7 year old daughter loves her and I've told her we would keep her.

She just had 6 babies but I was able to sell them so that was definitely a big break for me. I couldn't imagine feeding all them! People had said that sows with babies could be mean but when they were nursing was the only time we could mess with them. She was just fine with kids chasing them, handling them or doing what we wanted with them. I actually think she was glad to see them go lol.

Anyway good to know that there is somebody else with a pet pasture pig. Funny thing is that everybody that comes to our little hobby farm likes the pig the best. They never talk about the goats, bees, horses, etc, they only talk about the pig.

Love to see some pictures of Wilma!!!!

I was never a fan of pigs before Oscar. I didn't have anything against them, but they are not an animal that I ever wanted for a pet either. Since he just showed up and I wasn't able to give him away, it's just kind of turned out this way. He is very popular on FB and my clients always ask about him. The lady I'm working for now was at the gym with her personal trainer and telling her about Oscar, and it turns out her trainer knows all about him, even though she isn't one of my FB friends. LOL

Looks like he approves of his house.

Still need to do the metal flashing and gutters, but he doesn't seem to mind. He is sleeping in it every night and sometimes during the day. He takes a lot of naps and changes location quite often.

Here are a few of her glamour shots. We're trying to teach her to walk on a leash so we can take her to the animal days at the local Tractor Supply.

That last one is her stall in the barn. We went in the other night and the brown doe was curled up next to Wilma asleep. I couldn't get my phone out in time to catch a pic but it was cute.

Great pics. I really like your barn!!! I know what you mean about trying to get that great picture. Oscar will be asleep with the cat cuddled up next to him, but as soon as I get the camera, they wake up and separate. I've missed some really great pics, but I'm still trying.

Did you have any luck with the leash? I tried that too. I bought a shoulder type dog collar from Tractor supply and put it on him. Then I attached the leash and tried to get him to follow me. No luck, once I pulled on it, he panicked and took off. I was never able to get that collar on him again and the bigger he got, the more I realized that there wasn't anyway possible to control him if he took off. Sounds like a fun idea though.

I think the problem I had at first was putting the temporary fence in an area that he would come up on without warning. Once he hit it, he just ran right through it in a panic. He did this a couple times. I got the idea that if he saw the fence out in the open, he would be less likely to endure the pain of the electric shock. It's been almost a week now and he is still in there!!!!

We have had this problem trying to learn adult pigs to the electric fence. In one case, the pig hit the fence, backed up, started snuffling along the fence line to try to find the way out. Each time he got shocked, he got more agitated, and more interested in how the heck to get out. After about thirty seconds, he just barged right through.

Oscar has his name on his house now, so this little project is now officially done.

Cool! He looks so happy!:D How did his house do in the rain? Did it get muddy in there? If so, he'll probably love it even more.
