Two years ago, the local JD dealer told me that Home Depot's Sabre mowers were just older JD models being relabelled and sold cheaper. He even said the parts numbers in the manuals corresponded to the old JD part numbers.
Don't know about Scott. May be the same deal or could be output of the giant MTD brandname mill.

I had a Toro/Wheel Horse with a rear discharge deck. I liked the machine and it did have a pressurized oil system. It met an unfortunate accident so I replaced it with a Honda Harmony with hydrostatic drive. The Honda will mow the lawn probably 20% faster due to 2" more deck and the hydrostatic system (no clutching or gear shifting) but------The Toro mowed the lawn much better and I doubt that the engine will last as long (non pressurized oiling and no filter). If I had it to do over I would get another Toro with hydrostatic transmission and a rear discharge deck.
