Here's my stupid trick of the year.. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif.. I like to keep backblades on both of my tractors this time of year, so they're both ready to plow snow. Last week, I took the back blade off one of my tractors so I could hook up my manure spreader to fertilize the pastures. Stupidly, I left the blade outside, and since then we've had freezing rain and a snowstorm. Now the danged back blade is completely frozen to the ground!!!

Does anyone have any idea how to free it, short of waiting for spring??

Have you tried hooking a chain on your fel and then to the bb and work it loose?

Rock salt or blow torch near the blade? Just don't cook the paint! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Smack it on the end and around the blade with a sledge a few times. That will crack the ice.

I'll assume you already tried hooking something to it and giving it a "tug"..., how about a pressure washer? Even cold water will melt ice. I've used a pressure washer to clear ice out of cement dog runs and it works quite well.

I just sold a 3 bottom plow that's stuck to the ground. (18 degrees) The buyer wants to pick it up this afternoon. I threw a tarp over it, much like a tent, then put a kerosene heater under the tarp. This morning, it was thawed completely, and ready to move. (About $7 worth of kerosene /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif)

the tarp & a propane lantern works too!

hot 5 gallon bucket of water will help move things if you are there to give it ai tug prior to it re-freezing though! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Even the stream of water from a garden hose will provide enough heat to melt stuff in most weather.

If you try and bust it loose by force, it is likely to bring some of the ground with it.

Throw a little water on it and give it a nudge with the tractor, it will come free.

First, break the ice off the toplink mount with a hammer then take your tongue and lick....oops, that won't work but it'd be fun to watch. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
