I'm trying to use the net. These clowns want a warm body there before they will get specific. I get PTSD everytime I walk into a car dealer thanks to my time working in a couple of them...Thankfully in service.

That would be it for me. I guess all the reports are wrong and everyone is doing so well they dont need to explore every avenue to sell cars.

I am not sure if this is a GM thing or not but I have found Honda, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, and a few other manufactures very easy to deal with over the phone. My guess is its not a GM thing, just your dealers in your area. Around here, farm land and good old boys, you do what you say and make a deal on a hand shake. If not you get you ***** kicked. Now its a different game in Indianapolis but here most dealers are easy to work with.

Remember, you hold the power here. Let them know it. You are the one writing the check.

Yeah..it is the dealers in this area. Unfortunatly this area is somewhat affluent (present company excluded) so they operate differently. I'd love to work with a country dealer, that's my kind of deal making. I'm ready to give up on these guys. I have other avenues that I didn't want to use. Might require me to go 2 states over, but if the deal is right...So be it.

It's not just a GM thing. In spring I went in to local Dodge store to look at a RAM that was being advertised by Chrysler - not the dealer. They didn't have one and the sales guy told me I probably wouldn't want to buy it anyway because it was "kinda plain." After that do you think I bothered looking at the full load Laramie that was in the showroom?

Dropped by the Toyota store to look at their crews. Receptionist told me they didn't have anyone available that could speak with me at the time - mid afternoon - mid week.

It's the same with the tractor dealers. I read on here about all the arrogant red, green orange, blue dealers. Dropped into the JD store yesterday to order a bucket. The person I dealt with in 2007 when I ordered the tractor is still there - remembers my name - gives me a reasonable price - orders the bucket - no deposit - no contract - will deliver to my yard when it comes in. It was actually the same with the tractor - just a verbal agreement - no deposit - no signed contract.

So there are some good guys out there - you just have to find them.

I go that far all the time to buy boats and such. If its new whats the big deal. Buying something used sight un seen is another story... Then you take your chances. Good luck. Like I said before use the net. I have had friends buy a one way plane ticket and fly 1500 miles to get a new car and better deal. One guy on here just saved $10,000 on a Ford Diesel buy doing so and driving it home.

My buddy who runs the Ford Dealer I used used to run Tom Raper RV's. If you are not familiar with them they are on the Ohio Indiana line and are the largest in the US. I have seen commercials in Alaska and California when I am out there on business. They sell on volume and can make great deals. He has told me on numerous occasions he has made a deal with couples who are retiring on Friday and flying out to pick up there new RV the next week. He picks them up at the Dayton Airport, they go back and go over the machine, sign the papers, and the retired couple starts the rest of there life right there. They may have a home in Seattle but came all that way for the great deal. No reason it can not be done over the phone and internet or even a Fax Machine.

Thats the company that would get my money also. Not to many left who says they will do something and actually do it. Thats the way I operate.

I bought my 2004 Dodge over the phone. I live in Richmond Va and heard of a guy in St Louis doing smoking deals. I ordered exactly what I wanted, sent him a check for 500 and flew out to pick it up when it came in. The deal was exactly as advertised. The only additional charge when I picked it up was 7.50 for a temporary plate. I then drove it 800 miles and 12 hours home.

The last New vehicle we bought was a Honda accord. I just emailed a bunch of dealers up to 2 hours away and told them what I wanted. I got a bunch of replies back. I disregarded the high ones. Then we started the "I have a dealer that will sell it for this can you beat it" eventually you get to a price that people won't go below. We ended up buying at a local dealer just walked in to sign papers.

Did the same thing the last 2 tractors I bought. I did walk in to give one of the local guys a chance but it was a waste of time. But I found another local guy I like dealing with.

Has anyone gone the Costco approach with this?...If so how was it?

Well never mind on the Costco thing. They default to 2WD with no ability to select 4WD. Got a dealer select failure after 3 tries. No one around here carries 2WD trucks...Who designs these web sites?

Thanks..this one is the HD trailering not Max..That would explain this.

Got a final price..Now just have to digest it and figure out if I want to pay that much for a bunch of add on bling stuff that I don't need.
