I have had real good luck ordering new trucks. I go around to a few dealers to figure out what I want then get on the phone when I have figured out exactly what I want. Get the head of fleet sales on the phone tell him what you want and they will start telling you that you can get even more extras for less$$ by ordering this or that package. After you have talked to a couple of fleet managers you have it figured to a T and even have the lingo down.
The rest know your serious and you get the price down. After all they have the truck presold so don't have to mess with it other than dealer prep. The only hitch is it takes 30 to 90 days once ordered usually closer to 90 and sometimes longer. That way you get exactly what you want for @25% or more off dealer price. Have fun your in the drivers seat!!

Well, test drove the 6.2 today. Wow does that thing move...Very impressive.

Anyway...MSRP of $42k minus a fair amount of rebates and 12k for my 2004 GMC brings me to $24k....Tempting...Thoughts?...Told them I'll get back to them next week. I don't buy anything over $100 without sleeping on it.

It's pretty mich a Denali without the badges and AWD. Has most everything else.

Need to add a bedliner and tarp....Other than that all bases are covered. Even ones I could care less about.

Recently, I've found out that the rumor about GMC is not true so I'll come back to GMC shopping. :)

GM bed liners aren't too bad. Get them to add one in at their cost. Also consider the 6" oval side steps vs the 4" tubular. Mudflaps make a big difference in how much road crud gets thrown up on the side of the truck.

You are incorrect. The rumor is true and is factual, no longer a rumor. Call off the dogs on the GM.

Are the brakes bigger on the GM 3/4 ton vs the GM 1/2 ton with max trailer package. The 1500 with the 6.2 sounds nice, but when I asked the dealer what components were beefier on the 2500 vs 1500 he didn't have a clue, only that it weighed more. The catalog doesn't show the specifics. Currently have 2500 Suburban 8.1 / 4.10 and thinking what to buy next. Really prefer Suburb over truck, but no 8.1, no diesel. To get 6.2 , have to go Denali. Prefer no AWD. With truck , I would go crew cab and remove back seat for my large dogs. ANywhere on web where all the specs live?

With the 2007 & up GM - CC the rear seats fold up against the back wall. For me, a 125lb and 90lb Giant Schnauzer fit back there with no problems. When the smaller one was a pup I actually removed the whole seat in order to use a large crate back there. Obviously there was more room that way but once the crate was no longer used I put the seat back.

I looked at GM / Ford / Ram / Tundra and while the latter three have fold up seats and various size rear seat area they all have humps / seat parts or plastic storage trays under there so that even with the seats folded, usable dog space is much less than optimal.

IMO, for large dogs & easy conversion back to passenger, the GM - CC rear seat is the best you will find.

In general on a 3/4 ton anything you are going to get bigger brakes and heavier axles. Also the axles are usually full floating. The cooling system is also usually a little bigger but the GM Max Tow thing is kind of a tough one to figure out. They are basically beefing up the 1/2 ton truck with some 3/4 ton parts. Not sure what is really a carry over.

I have a 2010 GM 1500 / 2500/ 3500 brochure here. Quick read seems to indicate air bags, front / rear suspension, steering, transfer case, transmission, braking system and wheels / tires are different.

I'll bet it will be in the driveway before Christmas. I could tell by your writing and responses that the glazed over eyes were present back in November.

The only thing glazing my eyes over is the price....My 2004 looks better each time I look in the garage.:)
