Anyway, I just wanted to encourage you to learn basic welding earlier, rather than later. It is mostly practice, practice, practice and once you get the basic hang of it, it opens a whole new dimension to what you can do with your own two hands. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yes, I plan to take a local class. But first I need to build a backyard
workshop/garage and for that I'd like to use a backhoe. Once I have the
building then I will be able to take a class and get a small welding setup to
practice with.

Actually, I gave up (or gave in) and bought the BH attachment. After looking
at the problem for a while I realized that there is no substitute for a BH to
do BH type work.
