I just finished building a 4x6 foot dolly with casters for my backhoe. Unfortonately I built it first without much forethought. Currently the backhoe is in the driveway on the ground. Is there some way to lift it up onto the dolly without reinstalling it back onto the Bx23 first? (ie attatching a chain to the loader and lifting it or some such thing?)
Excuse the newbie type foolish questions. Thanks

Yep, use your loader to lift and block up the hoe or re-set onto the dolly platform. Be sure to put the chains on a couple of spots so:
1) The hoe doesn't rotate around out of control and is stable.
2) Do not hook onto the cylinders or shafts...connect to an appropriate lifting connection.
3) Lift the hoe up and don't drive the tractor but if possible, slide the dolly underneath it.
4) Do you have some kind of stabilizers on the dolly to keep it from tipping over when you move it?

The fel is rated at 460lb and the hoe weighs 617lb. You can just back the tractor close enough to hook up the hyd. lines and lift it with own controls to get the dolly under it.

Yes, you can do that too.
Just be sure you have it balanced with the bucket down so it doesn't "tip" over when you raise it up on it's own. Also be sure your tractor is close enough so their is plenty of hose length so they don't tear off when you raise it.

Does the backhoe have it's own subframe or is it a 3pt mount? Does it have it's own PTO driven pump or does it hool up to the tractor rear remotes?
You probably know this, but don't drive off before unhooking the rear remotes or the PTO pump...

If you search the archives in the Kubota Owning and Operating forum, you can find 4 threads by guys who built a dolly for a BX22 or 23. Each one goes through step by step instructions for attaching/detaching, complete with many photos.

3RRL: subframe, driven by tractor hydraulics.
