Called the dealer back about my results. Looks like it will be next week before they can even talk about a "game plan" to fix the problem. He claims his better techs are at Empire Farm Days working a display this week. Oh well, it's been almost three summers now /w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif so what is one more week /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif.

Rowski,

Kinda like a burr under the saddle. The longer you ride the more it hurts and the bigger the sore. :)

Well I made some headway with the dealer. They are going to send me a cylinder rebuild kit, and 2 relief valves. They are the ones on the front of valve #39, the boom control valve. The relief valves are #41 on top and #16 on the bottom in front of the floater valve. It's been a week and the parts should be in next week, hopefully.

I'm still guessing on a relief vale bad rather than the cylinder packing being bad. I most likely change the relief valves first because the are easier to replace and seems like the logical cause for my problem. The next problem is to see if the warranty will cover it. We haven't talked about it yet, but it sounds like they will cover the parts but the labor is not beacuse I'm doing the work. They claim they lost help and are overwhelmed with work and can't tell me when they can get to it. As mentioned this problem has been there almost from day one, now we have the end of summer #3. Hopefully I can get a free hydraulic filter and fluid for my trouble or their trouble/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif We'll see I'll keep you posted.

Not so good news. Just got done installing the load check valve AND rebuilding the cylinder. The load check valve is not the relief valve I thought they were sending me. This load check valve (#26) is the one in front of the valve between the hose connections to the hose to the cylinder. All the spools have this same valve. That didn't do anything so I rebuilt the boom cylinder as per dealer's instructions. That didn't help either. It did give me some good experience, first time taking apart a cylinder and resealing. I'm still got my money on relief valves #41 or #16. Will see what the dealer wants to do next.
