Thanks mate. Torn between getting a bigger tractor and backhoe and keeping my little one for mowing.

Has anyone had any experience with the 3 pt link backhoes. I know frame ones are possibly more solid but they are more expensive too. Not looking to do heavy duty stuff.

TRACTOR 3 POINT LINK BACKHOE MEDIUM - Hayes Products - Tractor Attachments and Implements

I have been using the 3PH backhoe on my B2910 for 18 years. Sometimes a LOT. Digging stumps, trenches, fill to move elsewhere with my dump trailer, and so on.

No problems, but I ordered it with the tractor and it came with a heavy duty top link bracket installed.

Apparently the danger is without proper installation, the tractor's gear case where the top link is attached can be damaged/cracked/pulled apart if not properly reinforced by a heavy duty bracket.

If you do go with a 3PH backhoe, be sure to address this concern, or you may regret it big dollar wise...

Aqua moose, what you are saying is not what the OP said, but what you said may work. On my BX, I don稚 know if I have enough curl angle to get much of the back of the bucket onto the ground.

I stand corrected, I apologize. I remembered his original post a few days prior and my head scrambled it up a bit. As to the idea, it’s an idea but I’d resort to avoid diminishing loader lifting capacity and depend on skill to operate the machine.

Recommend tractor owners avoid 3pt backhoes due to the potential for extreme rear end structural damage on the tractor. Quality 3pt backhoes by reputable manufacturers are available, but just far too many serious incidents of structural damage, including major cracks in the casting of transmission housing. Far better to use subframe mounted backhoes, which spread the stress of backhoes use across the entire frame, instead of only rear of the tractor.

Here is a link to a thread on a Kubota with a 3pt backhoe, that suffered serious damage.

Good advice Henro thank you. I will do some further research. I can afford a subframe hoe but was interested if it could save some dollars.

No big deal, I never saw his other post. What you said would work, in theory, but not on a small tractor, like my BX. I went and looked, by the time you affix an anchor, you’re going to adversely affect the bucket’s abilities, in other situations (like moving piles of rock and back dragging).

The link information shown above is all that the OP really needs to know!
