I got my backhoe rake finished. Just in time to not be able to use it this year. Got a chance to try it out though and it works better than expected. It rips through roots and pulls small stumps easily. Pictures aren't the best but gets the point across. I origionally had planned 5 tines but it was pointed out that it would be too wide and could bend pins, so I reduce to 4 tines and spaced them slightly closer together, leaving the pipe overhanging a bit. Its roughly 24 " wide now.

I got the parts waterjetted and the flanges welded and reamed by a company in Trenton Ontario, if anyone wants the info on them I can supply it. They were real easy to deal with and reasonably priced. All I had to do was supply them with a cad drawing.

Next project underway already is a tractor cab, then to motorize the chute rotater on the snowblower. Next year to build a screener to get the soil separated from the roots.

I tried ripping the roots with a rear mounted ripper but that just rutted up the land. Additionally, I have a lot of tight spaces to maneuver so the rake is much more nimble. The roots are unbelievable. Above ground is just a few junky looking bushes, below ground, I have an underground forest.

It turned out great!
How did this end up working out for you? Did you add a thumb with it?

Well he may just read w/o posting nowadays, who knows. Either way the dude deserves props, this thing is sweet.

Usually a TBN "member" that tops out with just a few posts was either someone that got his answer and then left, or a shill that makes a couple of benign posts to fit in and then gets to work on his agenda. Not old cheddar. Hope he comes back.

I need a backhoe rake in my life.

I found a fella on youtube who fabricobbled something interesting. Smart, I think I'll borrow from his design.
