The BH on my 3054xs TLB (KB2376) has a boom float position on the control valve. I've not yet found a use for it, other than relieving the hydraulic pressure on the boom cylinder after you've grounded the bucket when storing

You can use the float position to maintain a level trench bottom while trenching.
Of course, you don't need the float to do this, but I believe that is what it is intended for.
