**** backhoe's are expensive

My buddy has a small wheel loader in the 5 ton range. I like the big wheels and lower operating cost over a skid steer but it lacks the fine control and versatility offered by a skid steer. It’s made for what the name implies and also works pretty good for moving stuff with pallet forks.

This size is very popular for a lot of in-house tasks, very common in farming, it's a Avant that I do believe is sold in the us. avant-frontlaster.jpeg

Here in the US (at least my part) that would be called an articulated tractor.

Suppose it's a desperate try in the hope to sell some backhoes, here I live the sale died out in the late eighties, backhoes didn't stand a chance compete against excavators.
Commercial backhoes are still popular here for most townships.
The townships use the front loader for loading their trucks with salt, antiskid, gravel Etc. then the TLB can be driven to the Twp. roads needing ditching or repair vs trailer everywhere.

Still very popular here also?

I sold mine after the foundation here was dug. The backhoe even then saw much more use than the excavator did, so did the crawler which was only sold two months ago.

Many who don’t want to face the fact th at both machines have benefits that are actually dependent on your overall needs and might actually differ from thier own have most likely never had the ability of picking the right tool for the particular job at hand from a lot full of different equipment.

For maintenance of roads you must have reach and a TBH DOS have a very limited swing

There are some of these machines in use but not very common except on railway work.7276_1235314729428.jpeghydrema-906-b%2Ccc2471cf.jpeg

I had a John Deere 4310 w/ backhoe and when i upgraded to a Grand 6060 I included a backhoe also. The size of equipment is all relative to the size of the job. I'm not in the construction business. I don't need a mini excavator to dig up my septic tank covers to pump the tank but I don't want to do it with a shovel. A stump in a woods trail, a rock I'm tired of mowing around all the way up to expanding my driveway to better park my trailer. Is it a toy? My wife thinks it is. But really its no more a toy than comparing the Grand 6060 to a Cat 944. Also you will get 1/2 your $10000 you paid for the backhoe attachment back when you trade or sell.
