My concern is...if you are getting this run around before the tractor is delivered. What can you expect after delivery?

Anyone that's switches a brand because of a dealer being a jerk I think really doesn't know what he wants. Don't take it out on tractor, buy the tractor that you think is the tractor for you. There's plenty of dealers out there.

"I realize that it takes time and telling me a few days shorter is a sales tactic, but not calling me for an entire week is what is bothering me. If I'd been told it would take two weeks from day one, then thats fine, but the tractor was on the lot and he said I'd have it in less than a week and today I was told it 'might' be ready in another week. "

I had a very similar experience. My original selling dealer didn't seem to know what a telephone was. If there was ANY communication between us, it was left up to me to initiate (even when the ball was in their court). Even after the tractor was ready for delivery and had been sitting there for several days.

And, I wasn't one of those "PIA" customers who kept bugging them every day. I waited until the time they told me it would be ready and then gave them an extra day for good measure (too nice of me, actually).

I have seen poor customer service at a number of JD dealers. The problem is, they are like Honda: the product is so good, it sells itself and they think customer service doesn't matter. But, as evidenced on this site, some people will take their money and walk, rather than put up with it.

When I went to my local JD dealer when I was in the market for a new tractor the way they treated me completely turn me off from them. They acted as if they where doing me a favor even talking to me.

I found this with far too many deere dealers , Had this attitude one day so we walked out to ford dealer down the road and bought 2 new tractors . Stupid of the deere guy really as we ran 13 tractors at the time nearly all deere , ironically we then saw how much better other brands were !

The only two John Deere dealers we have in our area are simply not worth dealing with. I bought one John Deere and don't plan on buying another. Yes, they are good tractors and recommend them to anyone. I considered a Deere on my last two purchases but just could not get over the way I had been treated previously.

No, this is not unique to Deere as we have a Kubota/Case dealership I won't deal with either as well as a MF even though we also own a MF.

The top tractor brands are so close in quality that a good dealer, at least to me, is extremely important. We own more Kubotas because they are good tractors and an exceptional dealer is about 40 miles away. It is a shame as one JD dealer is only about ten miles away.

Again, not bashing Deere just explaining that sometimes a bad dealer can make or break a deal.

Thanks guys. I didn't see that information, and only saw the commercials. I feel a lot better about the deal and can't wait to get the tractor!!

What dealer are you going through? I hope your salesman's name isn't Phillip! Don't get too discouraged, JD service after the sale seems to be great. I had a bad experience with my salesman, but the service department seems great so far, when they say they are going to be onsite, they are, even when they don't have to make a house call (its almost a year into this deal, and I don't even have the onsite service plan). I saw posts with people suggesting to change brands, but if you know what you want, stick with it, all of the major players are offering just about the same thing right now.

my local JD dealer wouldnt even deal with me at all, it was like "take the list price..or take nothing". didnt give a break off of JD's Build it price list, nor did he give any break for a cash sale. Took 3 days of me bugging him to find the overall height of the tractor and call me back.

I ended up going to a Kioti dealership that was more than willing to talk me thru the options, test drive various units, and then sit AND DEAL. Plus got a nice cash discount.

I had the same experience with a JD dealer by me. The sales people at the dealership didn't even want to give me the time of day and when I finally received help I got a MSRP price on the zero turn mower. However, I am fortunate enough to have a couple dealers by me. Sent a late night e-mail to another dealer with 5 locations around me and first thing the next morning I got a call from the salesman. He ended up giving me $650 off of list on the mower and spent over 30 minutes on the phone with me. I couldn't get him off the phone. When I went to the friendly dealer to pay for the mower, the salesman spent another 30 minutes with me that Saturday morning showing me the mower and talking to me about tractors, Stihl saws, Stihl lawn accessories, etc. The difference was night and day and I am getting ready to spend another $1,500 there on some Stihl equipment and when it comes time to buy a utility tractor they will be the dealer I go with if the price is close to others I get.

It is quite amazing that in this economy, or any economy for that matter, that people don't want to establish a relationship with a potential long time customer.

And you think that the other tractor manufacturers don't make anything comparable to one another? I've looked at the JD 3720 and Kubota tractors that are its equivalent. The only reason I want a JD is because it is green and yellow, not because it will run circles around the Kubotas or because it will do things that a Kubota will not. I like the fact that it has its roots in America, even if it does make some stuff overseas now.

If I didn't have so many JD dealers around me, I would not have hesitated to buy another brand that is comparable to what I was looking for in the JD. No sense driving 50+ miles each way to try and find a friendly dealer.

Yeah, I know what I want and it is to be treated with some respect when I am talking about spending $5,000 and possibly $35,000 in the fall. Same goes for car dealers. However, there are a lot of Ford dealers around here too, so I can stick with Ford too.

Got the shaft from a Browning dealer and ended up going with Beretta from then on. It all depends on the situation. I believe in brand loyalty, but there is a breaking point where sticking with a brand just isn't worth it.

Never said or implied anything about comparing tractor brands. Sure I agree everybody wants to be treated right when spending any amount of money, I've owned Harleys for over 20 years because I like them, the dealers closest to me are 40 and 70 miles away, both won't give you the time of day. There's a honda and yamaha dealer 8miles away, that doesn't mean I'm going to buy one of them. I'll go where I have to to get what" I WANT", doesn't have anything what so ever to do with comparing brands.
