Bad mouthing a Kioti?

I'd guess that orange and green were the favorite colors on tbn. If you have to have another color, it has to be an old 8n Ford, or maybe an old International brought back to new!

I used to laugh when it came to cars and trucks- using "today's wisdom" vs consumer reports repair history. Those great brands weren't so great, and the "loser" brands did pretty well.

Like in the old days- people used to point to the Dodge Colt- american made - and it did Dodge proud...except that it was a mitsubishi in disguise!

You buy what you want, no one is forcing you. Orange and green are too pricey for me. I'll stick with what I have, a small NH, and I like it! 1000 hrs, I just do maintenance on it- hasn't needed anything I couldn't do- and I am not a mechanic!

NH-TC 30 : stay away from backhoes - bell housing cracks in some, LS loader messes up the frame in some. JD some overheat for no reason, etc, etc

Not looking for someone to take my side. Just call balls and strikes. Yeah, I'm not bashing Kioti either, I'm sure it's a good machine that deserves better press. Starting threads like this on a tractor forum may be the worst thing people can do to create a positive image of Kioti. The op has shot himself in the foot and doesn't even realize he's his brands worst enemy. The only bad mouthing I see here is about Kubota and JD dealers. I deal with two Kubota dears with the equipment I own and both have been very knowledgable and spot on every-time. And the relationship and support my son has got at RCO tractor in his LS U5030 purchase has been over the top great. HS.

Slow down there, Cowboy. Perhaps you need to go back and read my original post again. This thread is not about trash talking other brands, and it isn't really about comparing a Kioti with other brands. There are plenty of threads regarding that already. This thread was purely about the fact that my experiences with 4 different dealers have lead me to believe that too few salespeople know enough good things about their own brand so they seem to rely on bad-mouthing everything else.

As for John Deere, well they simply priced themself out of the running for my limited funds, and Kubota did as well. I'd really like to buy a Kubota, especially seeing as how the dealer is 5 miles down the road. I'm looking at an out of state, Kioti dealer because a) he's been in the biz for 50 years and is the nicest, most respectful gentlemen I've come across so far, and the price is $8K less. The bonus is I don't have to pay state sales tax either. I live on the border of NC and SC, and he is about 90 minutes away, but that's not a deal breaker when with every other thing being so positive.

I don't see how you make the argument that I'm Kioti's worst enemy. If anything, I think this thread has shown that alot of people, not just myself, are sick of ignorant dealers and owner's alike, spouting nonsense just to talk big about their favorite brand. Its obvious you are a Kubota fanboy, but I don't mind that. They make one helluva tractor in everyone's opinion. But the big 2 better find some better talking points (or at least better dealers) if they are going to remain the big two. We had this same conversation with Ford and Chevy for decades... and now Toyota sales more cars in the US than either of them. Actually, so does Honda and Nissan... and I bet Kia is closing the gap with every passing year. Talk is cheap. People are smarter and do more homework before purchasing these days. When a customer walk onto your lot and knows more about your brand AND your competition than you do... well, its not looking good for you then.

I searched through all the local dealerships.

I knew more than the JD 'salesman' about his product. When I told him I was considering others and that he needed to convince me I needed the Deere, he bashed the other brands badly. Deere is the BEST !

The Kubota dealer wouldn't even come out into the yard when I went in to ask about one of his machines. When I told him I was comparing with other brands, namely Kioti and Mahindra, he bashed them both.

When I told the Kioti dealer I had looked at others, particularly the Mahindra, I got a dirty look and a head shake indicating disapproval of those brands, but he never said anything against them. He did say that if I bought a Kioti elsewhere, don't expect him to work on it.

Of the 2 local Mahindra dealers, one knew very little about his own product, but didn't bash the competition, and the other never said one word about other brands other than if I didn't buy one from him that day, I'd be back because the Mahindra beats the competition in many ways, but they were both good tractors...and he knew the product.

I went back and forth to the Kioti dealer and the Mahindra dealer about 4 times each.

I was really torn between the Kioti (my brother has one and loves it) and the Mahindra, but for a couple of reasons, decided on the Mahindra.

Both excellent machines, and either would have served me well.

This website really helped me be a knowledgeable shopper.

As indicated above, nearly all the dealers snubbed the competition, but the JD guy was the worst.

I think we had the same Deer and Kubota dealers then. Deere guy was dumb as a box of rocks except to of course tell me that "Green is gold, man".
The Kubota dealer never came outside. I went to his lot twice. the first time, I walked around, climbed all over the tractors, got back in my car and left. The 2nd time, I did the same thing and then went inside. Once inside, in plain view of the salesman, he never budged. I had to walk over to him and start up a conversation about his tractors. Completely disinterested the whole time. When I finally mentioned Kioti, things went even furhter south and needless to say, I won't be buying a Kubota from there.

Jbird, careful there, when you do the math. You are correct that you wouldn't have to pay SC or NC sales tax, but unless you qualify for an exemption of some sort (perhaps agricultural?) you would be liable for NC consumer use tax at the same rate as the sales tax. Consumer Use Tax Most states have a use tax on purchases bought out-of-state on which sales taxes haven't been paid. Big-ticket equipment sales from neighboring states are things the revenuers are particularly on the lookout for.

So I've been closing in on my first tractor purchase (CK35HST TLB). I've really been thorough in my consideration of Kubotas, JDs, Mahindras and MFs. One thing I noticed during my numerous discussions with dealers, is the elitism of JD and Kubota dealers. I was talking with 2 Kubota dealers this past weekend and when I mentioned Kioti to them they were completely blown off by the suggestion. One told me it's like "comparing a Kia to a Cadillac". My conversation with the JD dealer was basically the same. However, when talking to 3 different Kioti dealers, they were all respectful of the other brands and said I would be happy with any of them if I bought them over a Kioti. I like that in a dealer. It's amazing that Kubota and JD dealers just shut down any notion that a Kioti is a good tractor. When I press them for evidence or details to support their opinion, all I ever get is "Korean" or " I knew someone that had a problem with one". When I bring evidence of all the glowing reviews and forum feedback on the Kioti line, they are speechless. This tells me this is just name-brand mumbo jumbo and that there isn't a really good argument against buying a Kioti. I just wanted to start this thread so that if others had similar feedback from their shopping experience, they could share it here to help out other newbs that we're perhaps getting the same BS speeches during their shopping.

Professional sales people will not talk down the competition because they know it hurts their own reputation rather than improving it. However, a pro may say in passing, "Have you heard about frames breaking on GM trucks that are being used for plowing?" A true thing purposefully thrown out to cast doubt on a competitive line-up.

I just clocked up 100hrs on my Kioti last night and so far I've not had any issues. On other post I mentioned the higher costs of products here and considering I was using money kept aside for my wife car upgrade I was very careful how I spent it. I checked all the main brands including the Chinese ( though I never intended to go that way) just to make sure I made a considered purchase. Non of the dealers bad mouthed Kioti. The Chinese guys were pretty full on with everything though I found it hard to get away, then spammed by regular emails and follow ups. In the end it was Kioti for me, I know Korean steel is excellent, and I like that everything is in house. I did like the drive of the other main brands but found them comparable with the Kioti. I also needed a slasher and a 4 in1 bucket which pushed my budget to the limit. The Kioti dealer was excellent and even though he sells main brand tractors (larger) he spent time in going through everything in detail with me. There was no pressure and was happy for me to make my own mind up. He chucked in a counter balance for free without even asking if I needed it. When the first service cam up he recommended that I do it ( no warranty) issues and then gave me the filters for free. Some have suggested that the aftermarket price is low on the Kioti and I would tend to agree. However I don't plan on selling it for a very long time and my wife has made it pretty clear that she's up for a new car when the bank balance gets back to normal. After spending a lot of years on an old Fordson with no seat padding I could be forgiven that any tractor with a comfortable seat was nice. P.S the 4in1 bucket has held up well, I've moved a lot of large rocks and it's gone through a fair bit of punishment and no signs of issues there. I couldn't find any data on whether it is Q&T steel but suggest it's likely based in the result so far. I might knock in some teeth though, I guess I'll find out when I drill it.

Where do you get this stuff, Do you just make it up as you go ??? I've been on TBN for many years also. I don't recall ever seeing or reading anything like that.

Well, I thought I did remember something about that here on TBN... but when I found the thread broken shaft and case I remembered it was not quite what he was saying, and it was Kubota, not Kioti. :D
