As my Avatar shows , I Own and Drive my own semi . Regardless of situation , I never , if ever " Publicly " bad mouth anybody or any thing . Even the good or Bad Harbor Fright threads , although I will read , I never contribute . Ever person's situation is different . The next person who calls that mechanic may have a good experience . I have paid $105 per hour for work done on my semi only to ***** to high heaven with the shop supervisor since they actually did not fix the issue in the first place . Taking it back in was not a option , since I had to leave the next day for work . The following weekend , I found the issue and repaired it myself . The thing that really Frosted me was that they actually went the Opposite direction from were I told them the issue was, ( Rather than go forward , they went backwards , farther from the issue . )
I second the picture taking idea . I do that with almost all electrical repairs or disconnects for other repairs . One wrong wire and as the OP found out , POOF . That same shop I mentioned has 1 mechanic that I have known quite awhile , But I have never asked him for info on self repairs . I have asked him what is this or that , which has greatly helped me . As such , I have " Treated " him to a few extra Elk steaks for him and his Family a few times .
