Ballast/carry all combo?

I have an idea for combining ballast and a carry all.

Take a standard pallet and put a 5’x3.5’ piece of ply on top. Add 4” of concrete for the base. Then build a typical YouTube carry all rack on top.

Would this work? What am I missing in this design?

Depends on what you want to carry on "Pallet/Ballast"... Personally I have a steel box full of concrete (24x24x12) with four 2 inch PVC pipes inserted vertically to hold shovels/rakes/hoes and any long handled tools.... Personally I don't find big huge carry box/pallet useful, but again my property sort of requires something more compact....

I think I'd approach this as 2 separate projects although there's been some really nice and compact ballast and shovel, chainsaw, chain carriers on here (build it yourself).
I wouldn't want the ballast sticking out that far behind me as you proposed and it would a pita (being heavy) to hook up to compared to a simple angle iron "carry all"

It should work fine.
To be honest I built a carry all about 8yrs ago and used it about 3x. Typicaly some ground engagement tool like a box blade is on the back of my machine. The process to remove a 3pt attachment to attach another just to carry a few things that fit in the bucket is not something I do.

You could weld suitcase weight hangers the top and/or backstop of a carry-all, similar to the way I did with my ballast box.
