Great pdf file, lots of good info!

Anyone in Canada (Ontario) know of a place other than Princess Auto to get replacement blades?

Hi ERicher,

That's an awesome gift- thanks, I just read through it, and saved it for reference.

I'll prolly print it out and keep a copy in the shop too, so I can reference it.

A question though, I'd like to cut a piece of black cast iron water pipe about 6" in OD with about 1/8" wall thickness, it looks like the 10-14TPI blade is the best choice, but would you use lube or not?

Anyone else?

Thanks again!!

Thanks Big Barn! That's got a lot more options. almost too many lol. I'll try some out and see what I like.

Physassist - Sorry no answer for you but I'll add to your question: My bandsaw doesn't even have a lube option and I've always wondered if it's worth adding?
It cuts just fine as is, blade doesn't get hot, but of course it's not exactly fast. I'm wondering if I added liquid cooling if I could speed up the cutting and also lengthen the lifespan on the blades?

Fair is fair, I don't KNOW the answer to your question either, but my reading of the manual Big Barn posted makes it sound like you'd be right, as does what little common sense I still possess.

Thanks anyway,
Thomas

***WARNING** The following is an expressed OPINION only and not supported by any scientific evidence!

I disabled and removed my liquid coolant system years ago. It now resides on the shelf. I don't miss the mess it made, the clogged screens and not to mention the short shelf life.

I now use a "lube stick" which I find works well for my "less than industrial" setting ( and is also compatible with my 'cut and dry' attitude.
