I can't speak for the BX2200 and JD4100 size tractors but if you go back to past threads about subjective vs. objective superiority of the B and L sizes compared to similar JD tractors they all seem pretty comparable. If you look at the thread Richard was referring to about problems with your tractor you see that all 3 colored tractors have things that go wrong. This issue about arrogant dealers was one of several selling points for why I bought a Kubota. I always figured I'd be back at the dealer for something or other now and then and I couldn't see going to the arrogant JD dealer or the NH dealer who I thought was an ass. I'd probably be just as happy with a 4300 or 4400 but didn't want to go 40 miles to the closest decent JD dealer to get one. Plus the Kubota was a lot cheaper.

I'll sure agree with that Grant. I wouldn't do business with someone that was rude either. The guys around here are sure nice enough. They bend over backwards for your business. I really hate to hear that they are so arrogant in other places.

No one and especially me has said anything bad about the 4100 and if so I apologise. I think it is a great machine and I am sure I have said so. It is built for them by Yanamar is my only comment--it is a built in Japan tractor and a fine one too.
I agree with Glenamac--Kubota is what Deere used to be, JD is a marketing illusion or at least I think so and that is why I occasionally bash them /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif . I and many others sense there is a commitment on the part of Kubota to build a quality machine with Kubota engines and transmissions--not low bid from whomever. I agree, the man John Deere would own a Kubota today!!
As to JD owning Kubota--prove it---my limited research does not show that to be the case but hardly have I done exhaustive research here either, been wrong before and will again.
Please do not take this the wrong way but hanging out on a Kubota owner list might not be the best way to get kudos for JD products--do you really expect us to think and much less admit our Kubota tractors are lesser machines--hardly--/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif , now do not get mad at me--just an observation. Dang, if I had thought JD's were better products I suppose I might have bought one--I actually can afford one if I do not eat for a year (that is a joke). J

Oh My, What a thread. Now I have a question. Do you pull the new tractor home with a Ford, Chev, Dodge or? And what colour should the truck be? Should it be a diesel or gas and should it have a manual or automatic transmission and what size should it be?

The problem with JD is there are Deere specs, and then there are Deere specs. But a Kubota is a Kubota, without any asterisks or parentheses attached. Even their smallest lawn tractors like the T series are built to a high standard of quality and nothing flimsy. Not so with Deere.

Sabre by John Deere seems like 'John Deere by Murray'. Couldn't be Yanmar making the Sabre, quality not as good as a Yanmar.

I don't know where you misunderstood me but I didn't say Kubota owned Deere. With regard to tractor design, features, etc. there is no competition for Deere. Before we go any further do you have any real experience in agriculture? If not then you don't know what you are talking about with regards to John Deere the company, not JD the compact tractor maker. I mean that without any disrepect. It would be like me talking about airplanes when I own an ultralight. I'm not a pilot and I don't have a clue as to what really goes on with real planes. JD is not a marketing illusion. If you produce any kind of crop JD is there for you with new innovations to get more yields in less time. JD does not do low bids. They build from whomever they feel is building the best product at the time. JD focuses primarily on the agricultural side and caters more to farmers and ranchers this is true. But there is every bit the commitment from deere to produce the best product that they can. No the man John Deere wouldn't even touch a kubota because he couldn't use it to farm with today. Kubota has no such tractor for a serious farmer or rancher who farms over a hundred acres. How can you even say that JD has no commitment when they just spent millions in R&D on the newest series of tractors? Kubota has nothing even like the new 10 series. Personally I have a JD 4600 that performs without flaw and most of the time it is doing work rated at double the specs on it. It hasn't had any problems at all doing it. Would a kubota do the same I don't know but the one I have sure couldn't be much better of a tractor.


One more thing Tres Crow I thought this was TBN I didn't know this was the Kubota TBN. I thought we all read posts from different tractors here and helped each other out with tractor problems. I didn't know we had changed the format here to start being like every other board and bash what the other guy is driving instead of talking about what we do with tractors and helping each other out with problems. I take a four day vacation and they change the rules on me.

Seems like some just want to bash the Big Guy. In this case, Deere. So what if Kubota makes/designs/builds/whatevers their tractors. Given time, they'll follow the rest of the manufacturing world. Design a good product, subcontract as much as you can to the manufacturer who specializes, and assemble the thing. And for that matter, subcontract the assembly.

As some have pointed out, what really matters is the quality of the dealership, it's location, and finally price. If price the the prime motivator, then you may as well buy one from Northern Tool and hope for the best.

Most "brand" name tractors are built and perform well. Are there inherent problems or design flaws with some? Yes. No different than any other product manufactured here or abroad.
Where is the raw data that says that Kubota has less flaws than Deere, or New Holland? Where is it kept? Better yet, can anyone get that information? Or is it heresay and conjecture...

Not trying to be diplomatic, just trying to make sense out of it. Like other discussions, we sometimes let our emotions/feelings (ahh... that 90's word) get in the way.

Sports teams, auto/truck manufacturers, electronics, etc. - we all have our favorties for various reasons and feel strongly about them. But geeeezzzz, take a breath.
