The EC planning 38 Giga EV battery factories indicates they are not planning to roll over and play dead for China that currently rules in the EV battery production world. Sounds like Tesla is getting a Billion plus of that EC cash.

Sounds like EVs are hurting Bosch transmission business. Sounds like a solution in search of a problem. There's been lawsuits over CVT performance in fossil fueled vehicles.

What if the push for EVS lowers our gas and Diesel cost for years to come?

It will certainly allow those running ICE vehicles a break in cost of ownership. It might also buy them time for EVs to drop from a richy-rich guys v/s car to a practical, affordable vehicle for all.

I can see that kind of power use if your off grid. But im not sure you could charge a ford lightning offgrid. They say it requires 80 amps of 240 power for 8 hours to fully charge truck.

You can, you would just need a $60k solar setup…24kw array and stacked inverters. However you could not charge it if the Sun wasnt out. However…I agree not feasible.

While the Ford F-150 Lightning is not considered likely to be around in ten years it's likely the required $60K solar setup in ten years will cost $6K new in 2031 when EVs will be mainstream by that time and much cheaper than ICE vehicles in 2031.

But then again, supply & demand will settle out resulting in lower petroleum production and closing of refineries, so supply will decrease.
I don’t see prices going down long term.
I would predict the price of gas will be going up for a few more years (hey it’s only up 13 cents lol) before there’s enough EVs to put a dent in gasoline demand (probably zero dent in diesel demand).

Its always easy to throw out numbers. Ive never seen anything go down in price..... and stay down. Unless its supported by government incentives. And at the rate usa is throwing out money, i dont see the us being around in 20 years.

Solar systems will not come down 10 fold in 10 years. They haven’t come down 10 fold in the last 10 years…not even close. There would need to be a massive breakthrough in manufacturing, materials, or subsidies to get them that low.

Agree, we’re finished, at least as a superpower.
We are a hollowed out shell of what we used to be. China will take over.
When the end comes, I may be taking a dirt nap, but I sure feel for my kids

Now I kinda wonder what the end will look like? A Weimar Republic? The US allowing China to occupy territories of the US? A division of territories? Camps filled with starving people?
Or more like a Cuba kind of thing with a communist dictatorship placed by the Chinese?
