Well Bob hasn't been back since the day he asked his question. Is that normal? I find that disappointing considering several people gave him free advice.
What is not clear to me is the model of machine. His Profile says a 110. Now, that's a really old JD. Or did he mean a more modern L110 or LA110, or even a D110 ??
We may never know...

Unfortunately, yes that is normal. Bob has 2 posts, both in this thread. We know he is in Parma, and we know his JD tractor of some kind won't crank. that is about it. We don't know if Bob found his problem or not. We don't know if he took some of the advice and repaired his tractor and just didn't bother to come back to thank the posters or not. But Personally I think Bob is dead. I am pretty sure in his diagnostics he probably jumped the starter with a screwdriver and the tractor ran him down. Seriously what other explanation is there for Bob being so rude as to not report back? So I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt that Bob was unable to post back because he was at room temprature. That is my story, and I am sticking to it.

No need to beat on Bob.
I sent him a PM asking what was up.. and hope I did it politely.
Maybe Bob couldn't find his original post or this thread. Some are not savvy to the mind of the internet. But could give him a break.. or anyone could send him a PM..
Do it in the TBN way...

OK, maybe I was a little rough on Bob, but what are the chances Bob will appear? or respond to you? The fact remains, the majority of people that ask for help here unfortunately never respond back, and it is demoralizing.

Oh, and I hope I am proven wrong about Bob.

Yeah, it happens from time to time. There's even one case, that I know of, where the submitter has only two posts, both of them questions (years apart). She's had heaps of answers & never been back to say if the suggestions were successful. Oh, well.

I look at it this way; once a question has been posed, the resulting thread no longer becomes "theirs". They can certainly add to it, but the resulting answers are for everyone. We have also had several 'zombie' threads resurrected from years ago, which means that whatever we write now may assist in the future.

That type of posting bugs me also. I do not doubt some forget how to get back or find their question as has been stated. Also too many get their issue fixed and the thought to posting that never enters their mind. Totally agree with the thought others can benefit from the thread.

Hi all,

kOua I'm not dead. Thanks for showing some compassion. I didn't mean to be rude by not following up. I didn't write down username or password when I signed up. It was late,I tired and frustrated. We were using a car battery to get the tractor started until we fixed.

BTW Parma Heights is adjacent to Parma Ohio:) The tractor is an OLD John Deere.

We bought a new battery and seemed to help but tractor still seemed sluggish starting occassionally. It is my son's tractor. We were using a car battery to start it when it was low. There was only on fuse in it and it was ok. Wiring is pretty simple. He got shocked last year doing some work on it then we stared having the staring issues.

I bought a linemans test set for toning out phone lines. it works like a plug in circuit breaker finder. I connected it to the positive then negative cables and ran the probe around the wiring testing for a short, could not find anything.

Perhaps it was something loose that we moved checking the wiring. I really like the test set, works off of sound. He hasn't called looking for my help so i think it must be staring ok now.
BTW I did write down my username and new password.
