Battery powered grease gun recommendations?

I agree that there can be an issue with the plunger extending past the end of the tube.

You MUST take the entire metal canister off and fill it 'like a regular squeeze handle' gun. If you just take the end cap off and fill it from the back, and run it 'dry' the plunger pushes out of the cartridge and cannot be pulled back. Just unscrew the entire tube, remove the empty, and replace with the cartridge metal edge towards the 'gun side'. Screw in the cartridge and away you go.

Interesting problem. I gave up on the cartridges years ago. I just fill my gun with a putty knife from
a bulk can of MbS2 grease. All my previous guns would leak grease slowly past the piston or around
the cartridge tube and into the void between the piston and end cap. The result is when you go to
pull the rod back to reload, a bunch of grease comes out the hole in the cap. I suppose I COULD
pull the rod back for storage, or just use up all the grease in the gun before storage.

I use a Lincoln 14.4V, and recently added a Lock-n-Lube clone. I like them both, but it is still
a messy job.

My 18V Milwaukee is addictive,, I have greased fittings that have not seen grease in years,,

As for the case, I keep the power grease gun in the case, kinda a place of honor,,
yes, I even surprised myself as to how I enjoy this tool,,,, :cool2:

Lock n lube gets 5 stars from pretty much everybody. One question, does it work as good with recessed fittings like on my FEL and BH?

No stars from me,, there are at least 20% of my grease fittings that thing will not fit on,,
heck, with 5% even the regular hose end will not fit, and I have to use an adapter.

No thanks to using two grease guns,,,

My Lock-n-Lube clone has a 5/8" diameter, so it does not fit easily into recesses where the zerk is off-center. Since I like how it works with most zerks, and I do not want to use 2 guns, I straightened the difficult zerks and/or drilled out the recesses with a 5/8" bit.

Just got mine and works on the recessed fittings on my Kioti 6110 FEL. The recessed fittings on the 2485 hoe have a smaller diameter hole and the LnL barely fits near the bucket. The MIE hyd thumb has even smaller hole and does not fit at all, so to keep using the LnL I'll have to have an additional gun. Wonder if other similar couplers have smaller diameter OD?

My new Dewalt is working well so far.

My LnL fits all the recessed fittings on the loader on my Kubota. Some of the bucket linkage pins are a little bit in there. I usually have to dig the grit & old grease put from around the zerk with a screwdriver first. I suppose it's better than them being exposed & broken off.

I've got a small extension hose. Normal female zerk fitting on one end, normal Male on the other. Would beat a 2nd whole gun if some zerks required a skinny coupler.

Simple and smart. Thanks.

I really want the Ryobi One+ grease gun to go with my dozen odd One+ batteries I already have. Unfortunately they dont make one yet. So I'm looking at yet another battery type to wory about.

Lincoln & Dewalt seem to be the leading contenders. Any recommendations either way?

In either case I'm either robbing the Lock 'n Lube coupler off my current gun, or maybe getting a new one.

Same boat here. I ended up going with the Dewalt and could not be happier.
