Battey Tenders do they discharge during power outages?

Not sure if anyone made the note that the Battery Tender jrs do not have the temperature compensation feature that the regular Battery tender has. It is about twice the price, though. I just ordered the jr (thanks to this forum more money is being spent:mur:) but my tractor storage area is already temperature controlled. May be one of those features that really does not matter, not sure about that. Does anyone know for sure?

Shoot! Now I wont be able to sleep at night.

Kenny....based on what YOU said......I called HF and canceled my order for the cheap chargers.....and bought the REAL Battery Tender Jr's at about double the cost.

These are going to spend the winter in an unheated and unattended garage.....so.......(grrrr......I just cant trust HF electrical stuff.)

I'm not sure if Kenny's word just cost me or saved me money. (grin)

You will feel much better have a well made product plugged into the wall than anything from HF. I have several things from them-but none that could burn my house down.

I keep my tractor batteries, cables and connections in good condition. That negates the "need" for cheap (Chinese) appliances plugged in and operating in my shop unattended.

I wouldn't have the need for so many either if I had the time to run everything on a regular schedule... work keeps me on call most of the time so even a planned tractor day can be cut on short notice.

My D3 Dozer only runs a couple of times a year and the battery is not cheap... before I bought the Tender... battery would last about 3 years... just don't get enough use.

Many of the others are antique cars... My 1905 Oldsmobile came from the factory with no means to charge the battery... it was something you had to replace every 15 to 20 hours of use... the gel cell I now use will go for many months before needing a charge to bring it right back.

The Model A's and T's just don't get out much in the winter... I used to have one battery and was constantly moving it from car to car... sometimes just to get one car out of the shop... so far the chargers have kept my batteries in good condition and no more pulling out the putting back the dozen screws just to get to the battery box in the Model A's...

Part of keeping your tractor batteries in good condition is keeping them with a good charge. If you drive your tractor often enough to keep them in good charge, good for you.

Some of use do not run our machines (tractors, generators, etc.) often enough to keep them charged up. In that case, a battery tender is the ticket. Not sure where the cheap Chinese talk came from. Like all products, some are high quality, some are not.

In general, I understand the dislike of poorly made products, however some of the anti-Chinese talk I see on this site (not necessarily this thread) seems to border on bigotry.

The Chinese reference came as a direct result of the mention of Harbor Freight as a source for low-priced inferior products products of the style under discussion. Is that plain enough for you to understand without eliciting veiled accusations of bigotry? Or should I explain that HF has a very high percentage of offerings from China, some of which actually offer decent value?

Well with the exception of maybe Jinma, china tractors are not quality machines.

Wow... down boy. Go back and read this quote:

"not necessarily this thread" (hint, it is in plain english)

A little anger management might help you...

If not this thread, exactly which were you referring to?

Don't initiate a drive by character assassination and expect it to go unnoticed. I don't need therapy simply because I won't tolerate being called a bigot. You are out of line.

Character assassination? A little melodramatic don't you think?

I said "not necessarily this thread" and "on this site". It didn't mean you specifically. It was a general observation from many, many threads discussing Chinese products by many, many different people.

Let me know if you still don't understand. I will try again slower and simpler.
