I took a recently purchased used truck in for a new windshield the other day and was passed by a couple emergency vehicles on the way. When I arrived at the glass shop there were a lot of looky-lous (spectators) gathered behind the glass shop in the driveway of an independent tractor repair shop. There was an emergency crew there getting a fellow onto a back board and into a cervical collar and set up on an IV and into the ambulance for transport. Seems that he brought his tractor in on a trailer for repairs of some sort. He either missed one of his tie down chains or somehow accidently got one fouled up in his PTO or 3PH as he was backing the tractor down his ramps. the tractor couldn't go so it rotated. It did a back flip and pinned the driver to the ground with the steering wheel. I didn't follow up on the story, don't know how serious (fatal?) his internal injuries were. This was an older tractor without seatbelt, without ROPS.
DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE YOUR ROPS UP AND LOCKED? SEATBELT FASTENED?
Not a great event for my wife as we were just buying a tractor. She held out for a cab model (L4610 HST)
Be safe out there,
Patrick
