Beer

I'm no Brewmaster, but I've been home brewing for a few years now.

Fwiw, the stuff they sell here as Guiness, is not genuine Guiness.

That has been noted in some other brand labels also. Heinekens comes to mind. Lovely beer. Started brewing over here under licences and about all hat was the same was the name. Seems it left the nice green glass bottle and made its home in an aluminum can. From favorite to a non purchase.

I rarely drink, but on those seldom occasions that I want a beer, I order either Coors Light or Mich Ultra in bottles only. I've tried other beer before, but haven't really liked much. Abita Amber (New Orleans) or Killians Red would be a couple others I could tolerate, but Coors Light would be my first choice.

I have one response to the thread title.

Yes, Please!

(FWIW, I like a Shiner, and some of their seasonal. Also enjoy the pilsner you buy at Aldi)

Can you get rheingeist or madtree . Both are great Cincinnati brands with many varieties.
Sam Adams is also brewed in Cincinnati

I like craft beer, for the variety. Lots of craft beer drinkers are snobs, and turn there nose up at regular beer. These companies brew millions of gallons, and they all taste the same, that is a skill. Besides that, just cause you like craft beer, doesn't mean regular beer is bad. When I am out or doing somethign I tend to drink light beer, I don't want to get full or sick of it.

Sitting in my chair, I like a high alcohol content, where I am going to only have a couple.

I like stouts and porters, but I don't find them refreshing on a hot day, or good for a dry throating when shooting the breeze.

Another thing, if not mentioned, is the build your own 6 packs. Lots of the grozery stores and liquors stores have them up here. Down south where they are uptight about beer, not sure.

It would blow southerns minds at the freedom we have up here. Except for MN with sells 3.2 beer at gas stations. You can't throw a dead cat 3 times, without being able to find a drink up here.

It's been my experience that most of the darker beers (browns and tripels are my absolute favorites) are best when closer to room temperature. The entire idea of drinking a good beer is to enjoy the flavor, and that can be hard to do when the beer is overly cold and closes off your taste buds. Hoppy beers are usually best somewhere between ice cold and room temp for my likings. Just depends on what the particular beer.

I've become somewhat of a beer snob these days, and will only buy good beers to stock the fridge. If the occasion arises where mass-produced domestic beers are the only option, then I prefer them to be ice cold.

To the OP, if you are interested in full bodied ales or browns, try to locate a place that has Caldera. They are a reasonably small brewery in Oregon and offer some outstanding beers. Their Amber Ale is fantastic. I will also second Troegs Troeginator for a full-bodied bock. If you have a place where you can mix and match beers, go for it. When we lived closer to Delaware we would occasionally visit Total Wine, a place that was half the size of a standard Walmart, but shelved nothing but booze. They had a great beer selection which allowed me to try many different styles and brands without the investment of a six pack or case at a time.

I'll take the advice and try the Guinness warm. There has to be some way to drink the stuff.
