Back in the late 70's i bought 2 belarus 400's Both had over 4000 hours each when i sold them and run great at that. Only thing done to the tractors was oil changes and fuel filters. One tractor was used for skidding logs and backhoe work and the other waas used for chopping, baling, spreading sh*t ect .. . they tested at 58.5 HP on the dyno and pulling a 12' disk flat out burned 1 gallon of diesel per hour.
The comments posted IMO are from people whom never owned nor operated them, just hear say. We had owners of JD and other name brands and pulled against mine. we'de pull'em backward just a kickin and a screamin! They are a tough tractor! Only beef i had against the Belarus was the weight, their heavy! I sold them when we got rid of our cows, and i kick myself for not keeping the one with the hoe. We have a service man who can get any part you want in Cicero New York. His name: Robert E. Baker, 8694 Burnet Rd, Clay, NY 13041, 315-699-2459 He's called the tractor Doctor
The belarus was real popular in our part of the state and unfortunately some owners just beat the sh*t out of them and complained that they were no good. These people would destroy a Cat D-8. . .No comon sense engauged. If i needed another tractor i would not hesitate to get a good used Belarus. . .John

I agree with John. A lot of people only go on what they hear. We have a 1994 572 Belarus. 4 X 4 with no FEL, but it has a power trailer and a log loader on the back. As tough as a tank. We had people call and get us to go where other machines could not. Change the oil, filters and fuel filters. And a back window when the winch came up through it! Haha! Other than that we bought it for a good price and have had it now 15 years or so. If you only drove a John Deere or Kubota before then it will seem different until you get used to it but I enjoy the Belarus. It is a good working tractor that was built tough.

My dad has had a Belarus for years. I don't know the model, but it's mid sized with a cab. That tractor is broken down at least 1/2 the times I visit home. He got it cheap, and still keeps it, simply because when running it seems worth more than you can sell it for, and when it's not running, it's worthless.

my buddy has a "fleet" of belarus tractors. he swears by them. they seem to start well in the cold, and appear well built. as stated above, we are in central NY, and there are quite a few of them around. he just got a 25hp one, and its 25 years old and has a legit 80 hrs on it

I would like to try a new one , i bet they have improved a lot .

Maybe. Post up here if you do, we'd like to learn how they are now.

Around here, they have a poor reputation. The local dealer that used to carry them says "Belarus!" is what Russians yell when something breaks.

there is some very interesting things in the 200hp class coming from over there right now !

Our local MF dealer sold them for a while and dropped the line when none would stay un-broke. They were cheap, but you tend to get what you pay for. As I recall they had problems with broken castings.
Has any one ever seen a tag saying "Made in Russia"?

I had a Belarus 802 cab 2x4,I you could get it started, the thing was strong, and heavy. The power down 3point was nice too, gears were kinda hard to figure out twisting the knob one way or the other to find the right gear. We had it in the family for about 10yrs,basically no one wonted to drive it,I keep it around so when someone wonted to borrow a tractor, thats the one I loaned out funny thing only got borrowed once by the same person:D I sold it to neighbor for his first tractor then he resold it cple months later for $3500...

I've owned two ... a 250 and an 83 hp cab 4x4 ... as with any equipment, service and repair. Both tractors served me well back in the day when I couldn't afford the others.

Both were work horses ... the big one I had problems with the front wheels not turning right or left, turned out they could get moisture and then rust tight if they sat to long outside... had to tear it down and clean it up.

Each one I sold I always got my money back and if I needed a tractor today for little money I'd consider one. As someone mentioned they would run for ever on a tank of fuel.
