Berlon Toothbar

I find lots of posts about toothbars either made by or available from Markham, ATI, H&H, WR Long, Carver
but nothing about toothbars from Berlon. Anyone using a Berlon toothbar? Berlon Industries

I am in the market for a toothbar on my FEL and was intrigued by the Berlon toothbars having a built in adjustment to pull the teeth tight against the cutting edge as the cutting edge wears.

Any thoughts, opinions, or first hand knowledge anyone has to share?

I haven't called the company yet.

The toothbar I have has the slot for the fastening bolts. I am not sure of the manufacturer. This is a nice feature if you remove the toothbar a lot and use just the bucket on a hard surface as the bucket cutting edge will wear down.

If you plan on keeping your toothbar on more than say 75% of the time then this feature is nice but not really necessary. It takes quite a bit of use for a bucket cutting edge to wear down.

Looks like it that toothbar is set up for a specific bucket. What I am seeing looks like it is bolted through the back of the bucket and pulled against the cutting edge. Nothing wrong with it. Well looking at it again I dont think I know what the heck is going on with it.
Toothbars are real hard to screw up unless the shipper drops it or its mounted incorectly. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The toothbar still bolts to the side of the bucket. The screw to the back is used to draw the toothbar tight against the cutting edge.

Not sure how their toothbars are, but I looked at their buckets etc when shopping for forks. Wasn't too impressed with what looked like spliced side bolster plates on the buckets with ugly welding. I used theit CUT forks and broke one. Dealer also broke one nudging a frozen down bucket.

I think their skid steer stuff is tougher, but personally, I'd look at Virnig www.virnigmfg.com as I am very impressed with their welding and construction on my skeleton rock bucket.

Put the bar on, push it on till it bottoms and lock it down.

From what I see at the Virnig Website they have a similarly designed way to tighten the toothbar against the cutting edge as does Berlon. According to the Virnig info on their Website the smallest toothbar they have is 59 inches long. I need one that is 53 inches long to fit in the bucket of my John Deere 210 loader.

Looks like I need to give Virnig a call and see if they make shorter toothbars.

Nothing wrong with the ones Markham or Woods make. I have the Woods 54" and it's fantastic. Really takes a lot of abuse, and I've had no broken teeth. John
