our ccw trainer told us something similar. he was a leo trainer.. told us we should not think about carrying if, right now, we had -ANY- qualms about possibly shooting another human being in a defensive situation. ANY at all... because.. once you carry.. you are in that position...

That's a very urban viewpoint. I bought my first handgun because I'm a mushroom hunter. About the third time I had to dispatch a wounded deer with a dull mushroom knife because some bozo was too lazy to track an animal after he shot it, I decided I needed to carry a handgun. I settled on a S&W 686, because it is stainless and it doesn't hurt it to be hauled through underbrush on a rainy day. I also carry it when the dogs let me know there is a cougar or bear frequenting my property. A wheelgun is much more sensible when you are going to get wet, muddy and covered in leaves and needles. Concealing a large frame revolver is silly, so I just strap on a sidearm holster, which doesn't require any permits in my state.

Very rarely do I haul a handgun into town with me.

True. I don't believe I've ever seen a weapon with the sights on the side, although I have seen people shoot one while holding it turned that way.

Also called a kill shot stand. We can joke about it, but it actually has respect on the streets. They say if someone comes at you like that it very well may be an execution, not just a robbery or other type of threatening.

Of course all the gangsta wannabes try to emulate the real bad guys and copy the style, that's where it gets main stream and comical.

I almost thought the ad was legit :ashamed: looks like they might work.

If that stance was any good, you would see professional shooters using it. In fact, it's just crap. Unless that guy has eyeballs in his chin, he isn't using the sights, and chances are he will miss what he thinks he is shooting at. Anyone who has done any shooting at all knows how difficult it is to shoot accurately with a handgun, even using the sights.

Of course it's no good for accuracy, but...
His not using his sites, he's ambushing you at night and shooting you from 5 feet away. There's plenty of souls in the graveyard that were probably shot just like that. It's cocky ghetto crap, often used to intimidate, but it's not something to joke about if you see it coming your way.

Just trying to think how it evolved, maybe from doing drive bys? throwing your arm out a window and shooting, might be more comfortable like that???
