Best day of my life!!

Congratulations on your addition. There is nothing more precious than a baby. Our 2 are grown and gone but the memories never fade.
We are starting the second time around, grandbabies. Had a new granddaughter born last Thursday. 10 lb, 1 oz. Grandson is 3 now. We are enjoying them as much as we did our own kids./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Came back to work today after 2 days of vacation and got bad news about 2 co-workers. One's unborn baby was diagnosed with water on the brain. Doubtful she could have lived if born. If she did, she would have been profoundly retarded, blind, and deaf. They made the personal and painful decision of abortion.
Another had twins born last week. At 2 days old, one suffered brain aneurysms and appears will be retarded./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
My co-worker who was telling me about them said he had been upset with his son about not playing his best in a baseball game. This came as a slap in his face. He now looks at things completely differently. At least his son can play ball.
We sometimes forget how thankful we should be. Enjoy your new child as she will bring you great joys and some occasional sadness and worry./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Let me add my congratulations, Paul!

Golfgar -- wouldn't trade my little redhead for ANYTHING in the world (even a good tractor experience!). There's an old Anthony Newley song, "the father of girls" that fits, though:

When you're the father of boys, you worry, worry.
But when you're the father of girls, you do more than that; you pray.

There is something special about the relationship between a dad and his daughter. I always wanted a son, but I couldn't imagine life without my Laura.

Thanks w-harv. I have had the honor of growing up in a famly of all girls, and I marryed into a famly of all girs, so I have grown up giving them all the respect they deserve. I got to say, I did not care if I had a boy or a girl before the birth, but now that I got a girl, I cant think why I wanted a boy./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Congratulations! You're going to love it. Make sure you spend as much time as possible with her, because she's going to grow up faster than you think.

As far as boy/girl, I've got both. My daughter is 12 and I can't imagine what life would be like without her. Seems like only yesterday she was learning to walk. We made the decision to have another and my little boy is now 8 months old. What a rush!

Have more. You won't ever regret it.

Gorden,
Yup I was there the whole time. I tend to pass out, but not this time. The labor was so long and hard, that at times she was about to give up. I told her If she gives up, I am going to pass out on her./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif So she kept with it.

So I'm assuming that she won't be dating for the next 30 years. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Really how many Dads aren't wrapped around their Daughter's fingers? You are a very lucky man.

Congrats on the beautiful little girl Paul.
I have 4 girls and wouldn't trade them for anything. I cried like a baby each time I heard them take their first breath.

<font color=blue>"When you're the father of boys, you worry, worry.
But when you're the father of girls, you do more than that; you pray."</font color=blue>

I remember years and years ago being at a family gathering and everyone was sitting around discussing whether boys and girls are easier to raise, etc. The conversation had pretty much wound down when Grandma Dolly, the family matriarch who had raised two daughters, chose to speak. Her words echo in my ears to this day.

She said, "Well, when you have a little boy, you watch that little boy all the time. But when you have a girl, you watch ALL the boys!"

Dmccarty warned you to get some sleep now because you wont' be getting much over the next couple years. It's not the next couple years that'll cause you sleepless nights, it's those teen years. Trust me on this one. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
