So I think I've decided on getting a grapple. The next question is, does anyone have one that they use and would recommend and how much does it weigh? I'm thinking a root grapple with dual cylinders would work best for what I want it for... I've seen prices between 900 and 1900 and usually the more expensive, the more weight. Can anyone add any input? Tia!

I would go with the new EA 55" wicked root grapple only 200lb and quick attach just got mine last week. They did a great job with it and seems to be very rugged. Havent had much time to use it yet we still have 2' of snow on the ground.

I spoke with them about that grapple. They had nothing but good things to say and it is light weight but there isnt much to the bottom half of the grapple jaw.. which I'm guessing where the weight loss is... Please let me know how you like yours. It does seem kind of pricey as well...

Wicked is a good Grapple, 55 is to large IMHO. I'd go with one of the 48" or so size. They make heavier versions if you plan on picking rocks.
You tractor for the size is not hurting for lift
Also this will really, really help with grapple work.

You may be thinking about our heavier 55" Wicked Grapple, which would be a very bad choice for his tractor.

600 Lbs is way too heavy for a Max or similar as it 1000-1,100 Lbs (with counter weight) is about its limit total lift capacity.
A 200 Lb Grapple even with the braces would not cut it in NH Granite long term. Our rocks at tough on the loader frame too. As a mechanical engineer I will say you did a nice job adding these braces and the protection for the hydraulics.
Your 54" Single Lid Compact 35-55 Hp 349 Lbs is just a Tad heavy for the Max, but for Rock work , that is the way I'd go
A niche market would be the Light Grapple with another 75-100 lbs of metal, especially in the bottom jaw. 55 inches width would is better at 50" for rock type work, basically adding 1/8 thickness to the tines.
The ideal rock handling Grapple weight on a Max or the Kubota L534 type loaders would be about 300 Lbs.
The 200 Lb Grapple is perfect for the BX type machines, or for brush and dirt. I'm lucky I have and Excavator with Hydraulic Thumb & L39 for the more demanding work, so I can keep the Little Max28 more of a chore tractor.

Yes, a little more metal will help. Now that I've told the OP how to spend his money, I also suggest he purchase with to 3/8" Industrial FF couplers and get hoses to suit. Price looks reasonable for a light fairly sturdy grapple.
