I'm curious of why the nitrogen flush is necessary. It can't be because of moisture since there won't be ANY at a 500 micron vacuum. It will have boiled away long before that*. Or is it just for pressure testing?

*(An ice cube will boil at 24,000 microns.)

It purges contaminants and when brazing it keeps oxidation from occurring inside the lineset and soot from forming. These contaminants are said to reduce life of the compressor and txv (expansion valve)

Thanks, that makes sense. Auto AC guy here and didn't think about the brazing but on numerous videos, the OEM says to do it even when flair connections are provided.
