Dad did basic at ft sill, back in 1943.

My father graduated high school around 49. He did basic at Sampson AFB, which no longer exists LOL

Thing is, when you're on a military base, I've come to the conclusion that the specific area around the base may not be a good representation of the state.

For myself, I'll take western NC over eastern NC any time of the day. That said, I like hills...

My Dad was there...Lawton...in about 1939/40, running an aggregate plant, producing rock for government projects, like runways on air bases, etc. I was there too, but too young to remember it. First I remember was Pawhuska, he was doing the same thing when the war broke out. Pawhuska is in Eastern Oklahoma, near Bartlesville. Beautiful country.
