I made my own PHD for under 1K. I think I was at 850 or so with hoses. Steel was pre-cut and pre drilled, did my own welding (not much needed)

We never saw pictures, so I guess it didn't happen!!!!!

Did you know Including a picture of home made equipment is an unwritten rule on TBN?

That is why it is unwritten. But it is still a rule.

Should be able to find the Lienbach line of PHD for around $550 New with one auger of your choice - up to 12 inch...Bought my 7200 JR for under $500 delivered with a 12" auger (delivered to a local business) about 3 years ago...
I am guessing the price has gone up...

As requested. Basically come C Channel (big) and a bunch of pre drilled holes. A wheel motor with a hub. 2 plates drilled to match the wheel hub and a pipe welded on one to hold the drill. Motor came from Surplus Center. Auger was the most expensive item ($300) but I didn't want to take a risk on a cheaper auger.

WOW ! Nice. I did not gather that it was hydraulic based on your original post. Very good work. I see you have it so it swivels forward to back.

And left and right. The Tractor is rated to 45 degrees and I am planting trees on slopes so the "gimbaled" head is nice. It does have extra holes where I can run a bolt through to lock it in place.

Oh wow, left to right must be behind the plate? Nice machine as well. That will handle some nasty terrain for sure.
