BEST PUSH MOWER?

I would like to have a good 20" or 21" push mower.. I would like for it to have bearings on all four wheels. I don't mulch. I want side discharge..I prefer at least a 160 cc Honda engine or something equivalent. I don't want flimsy..I don't need an excellent cut..I just need it to be durable..Most of all I want all four wheels mounted securely with strength to stand the test of time..Does ANYONE make one? Thanks

Sure, Honda does - they have bearings on all four wheels, side discharge, at least 160cc Honda engines, good sturdy decks. The first one I owned lasted for over ten years until I bent the crank when I hit a chunk of iron covered up in the ditch.
Replaced that one with a Craftsman, but it had a Honda Engine - worked very well, but I just didn't like it all that well, gave it to the daughter.
Then I bit the bullet, took a serious bite out of my checking account and bought another Honda.

Every Honda engine I've owned usually starts on the first light pull, if it doesn't start on the second pull, it's out of gas and they have an excellent variable speed control if you want self propelled, which I highly recommend

Do the front wheels have bearings? The front wheel assemblies seem junky..Are they strong?

All four wheels have ball bearings and the height adjustments are study.

I just went to their website and it appears that now all their mowers have the same size wheels, the one I bought has the larger rear wheels, but shouldn't amount to anything as long as your yard is reasonably smooth.

Five year warranty on the mower engine, deck is rust free and has a lifetime warranty.

I think Home Depot sells Honda push mowers. I also remember seeing them at Northern Tool.

On Honda, need to watch the models, the features change with models. I love my Honda mowers, but only get the commercial or the HRX models.

Looks like all the HRX models are self propelled..I don't want self propelled..

HRX is high end consumer. knock on wood, but my HRXs have been without issue on the self propel. I put about 350 hours on per year.

Commercial is HRC, I believe.

I really like my HRX217, but I see you can get a push-type in the HRR, $349 HRS (side), and HRC (rear bag) lines.

This year, for the first time in my life, I've hired a lawn mowing service since the doctor and physical therapist tell me to not do the mowing for 6 months after my shoulder replacement. And the company I've hired has some fantastic employees. These guys are walking at a high rate of speed with Honda push, not self-propelled, mowers, in mulching mode.

Personally, if I do the mowing, I only want self-propelled mowers.:laughing:

Just to add my 2 cents here-- I was told by more than one source and also have learned that the Honda push mowers cannot be beat. What surprised me more than anything else was if you don't purchase the Honda Mowers from an authorized dealer but instead purchase from a retailer such as Home Depot or anywhere other than an authorized dealer, you are not getting the actual Honda engine. The Honda engine you are getting is made by Honda BUT to the specs that Home Depot or any other retailer has requested. I was also told that the authorized Honda Dealer won't service the other Honda engines that were purchased from anyone else except the Honda Dealer.

Rubbish! I wonder why you don't say who actually 'told' you this rumour. :scratchchin: And do you think Honda are not so busy that they have time and capacity to make engines to spec's designated by various Box Store organisations all over the world? I can assure you that Honda-engined products are sold in European countries, UK, Australasia, South America, Canada etc... as well as USA. Any Honda dealer unwilling to service these products is missing out on pure profit.

The Honda engine is made by Honda but it's not an actual 'Honda'??? Bizarre! :confused2:

Not sure if the engines are the same, but in my neighborhood the off brand mowers with Honda engines seem to have many engine problems
