I agree the Monroe Tufline may be the best for compact tractors. I own the 5 ft tufline blade (weight 386 lbs). The price was $500, so Monroe's are a bit pricy; but you will not be able to bend the blade.

You're right Joe... these Monroe-Tufline units are very underrated... even if someone pays an extra $50-100. on day one... I think these blades will last for years and years... excuse the "pun"... but these blades are Tuf... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
I have a 6' Tuffline GB with hyd. angle and paid $650. I recently dug an 18-24" deep ditch 200' long to install an electric line. To accomplish this task, I manually tilted the Tuffline blade to its maximum tilt and then using the hyd. angle I was able to almost have the blade stand upright at 75 degrees. With my NH 1720 4x4 pulling, it really tested that Tuffline blade. Tuffline would be my 1st choice again.
Would you mind sharing where in Va you purchased your Tufline blade? I'm near Roanoke, Va and the only dealer Monroe told me about didn't seem to want to sell Monroe's stuff. His prices were very high. I'd like to find another dealer reasonably close (few hours drive) to get a quote from.
Thanks Gentlemen, You've all done a great job of giving me food for thought. I need to balance price, and quality. Much like everyone else here. If I can find a used blade, I'd jump at it for the right price. Thanks again for all the great feedback. Kent
Thanks Pat. I appreciate the information. But Surry is probably a little too far to drive. It's about 5-6 hours from me. I lived in Richmond until about a year ago, it wouldn't have been too far from there. I guess I'm stuck dealing with the expensive local dealer. /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif
All indications are that the Monroe is top-of-the-line and would be best suited to daily or commercial users who can justify the 'premium' cost.
I've been considering a Land-Pride back blade. Originally I was leaning toward the lower end units due to the ability to swap balde for rake on the same carrying chasis. I thought this would be a good way of saving a few bucks!?
Now I'm really looking towards the heavier units and the optional hydraulic tilt and angle.
I'll be using with a NH 35D. Usage will be maintaining 1400' of gravel driveway.
Qusetions:
Am I asking for too much on the 35 HP tractor ??
Any other recommended mfrs to consider ??
Any other thoughts ??
I don't know what size you're looking at but a 35 hp should be able to handle a 7 footer with no problem. (I have a 7 footer on a 26 hp bota and wouldn't want anything smaller) Only time you have to be a little careful is if you offset to one side. Too big a load out on the end and I guess you could twist/bend one of the lower link arms on the 3 pt but I haven't had a problem yet. You definitely want to cover your tires and with a 6 footer angled to the max you might not do that.
