Getting all my ducks in a row here. Thanks for all the help. I'll be going with the new 930 (replacement for the 758C) backhoe. I'm also having Millonzi deliver a 48" grapple to my dealer so the dealer can put on a diverter valve set up to work the grapple. Since my tractor doesn't make it back and forth to the dealer very often (80 miles each way) while it's there I'm also having them put on T-n-T. I'll see if they pick it up this coming week. After getting it back I have to remove a fairly large fallen pine that tipped over, roots and all and is sitting on top of other trees now. When I get a chance I'll post a photo in the projects section for suggestions on how to remove it. BTW, My tree makes the one currently in question there look like a twig. Scary.

The only advantage of the 758 over the 757 is going to be reach. The 757 has more than enough digging force given the weight of the class II NH frame.

Hi Joe,

I still think that the bucket force of 1/3 less power is significant. I have also read people lamenting they got the 757 instead of the 758, but no one who has a 758 is wishing they got the 757 instead. I'd rather have extra power if needed than not enough to start with. The other thing is if I decide to sell it later I think I could sell the larger one easier than the smaller one.

The only point I'm getting at is that unless the tractor is somehow chained down, the 757 has more than enough power to make the class II tractor dance. I dug out a lot of stumps last year with the TC33DA and 757. Although its a nice combo - it really gives one an appreciation for additional tractor weight (although a class III would have been overkill for me). The 758 should serve you well with the extra reach (something I wish I had for digging). Good luck - wish you well.

Thanks Joe for the reply. Everything you say makes sense. I was thinking the bucket strength is what is great for ripping and the boom strength which is just about equal between the 2 is what makes the tractor dance, so having that extra bucket strength would not much of a dancing difference.

The TC45DA is a significantly larger tractor than the TC34DA. The 45 is the high end of what New Holland calls (called?) their "Class III" Compact Tractors. The TC34DA is a "Class II". The TC45DA weighs almost 40% more than a TC34DA (weight of bare tractor).

In my mind, there is no question that the 758C backhoe is a better match for the TC45DA than the 757C.

Whether the 758C or the 757C is a better match for the TC34DA is an open question in my opinion. I guess a lot depends on operator technique, and what you are digging. It does not surprise me at all that those who have this combination are happy with the BH. It's a great backhoe. You just need to be aware of the limitations of having it connected to a smaller, lighter tractor.

Thanks for correcting me. I did not mean to give him bad information. I was thinking the TC45, TC40, and TC 34 were all the large CUT and the lower numbers went to the class II. I must be thinking of the TC35da. Thanks again for the correction. I would feel bad if someone made a bad decision based on bad information I provided.

Yes, the TC35DA was the same frame size as the TC40/TC45. The TC34 was the successor to the TC33. Basically, they took a TC33 frame, and put the engine from a TC35 in it for a couple of extra HP.

Hey, no worries. I already knew the 34DA was not in the same size class as the 35DA, so no sweat.

Any advantage/disadvantage of 16" (3 teeth)vs. 18" (4 teeth) HD buckets for the 758 (930) backhoe?

Don't make the mistake I did. Last year I had the 756C backhoe on a TC30. I bought the TC34DA and the new 930GH in March this year and the difference is night and day. The 756 had very little leg room and would never reach what I wanted it to do. I love the new design of the 930GH and the hoe has plenty of power. It will lift your tractor and even give you a thrill on occasion. I wouldn't trade my new combination for anything. I use my tractor at my cabin property and it is the right size to get around the forest yet powerful enough to tear up the mountain and landscape! DON"T BUY THE OLD BACKHOE DESIGN IF YOU WANT COMFORT!! Get the 900 series.

Thanks Big Horn. My tractor is at the dealer getting a 930 installed along with plumbing for a Millonzi 48" grapple. Xmas in June. Maybe delivery tomorrow. About the only major thing left for me is a snowblower.

Got my 930 and Millonzi 48" today. The 930 is quite an impressive unit. The curve in it really helps getting the bucket close without it hitting itself. Just VERY nerve racking disconnecting the backhoe from the tractor for the first time.

The Millonzi grapple is very well built. I was able to grab the trunk of the previous tree I cut down and just drag the entire tree. I was shocked over how strong the tractor/grapple combination is.

Congrats.

I would replace the clasped on the pins for the subframe connections.
I lost 1 had to pay $35 so I replaced it with lock nut and bolt --never lost one since.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I'll stay with the clasp pins as my BH will not be staying on very much as I use the 3pt hitch for my 72" mower more than for the BH. As a matter of fact, the BH is already off the tractor. I hope to get good at getting it on and off quickly.

OK, finally was able to take some photos of the tractor, grapple and backhoe as well as a close up of the diverter valve.

Finally a few more close ups of the diverter plus a little pebble I picked up. Kinda on the edge of my tractors abilities. Check out the front tires, and yes they are the correct pressure. I needed to get the rock in the back of the grapple to be able to lift it.
