Best Tractor ?..this should open a can of worms

I own a kubota, so I obviously think they make a good tractor. They don't offer all the high end features that you might get with a row crop JD or other brand. I'm curious though, how come whenever this topic comes up, why doesn't Case get mention, or it hardly gets mentioned. I live in Wisconsin, and it seems Case is a pretty big name up here. I believe NH is the same brand. Is that why, people just lump it under NH? Or, is Case not a very good tractor?

NH bought out Ford and I think Oliver and Cockshutt as well. Case bought David Brown and then joint with Internatioal Harvester, so I guess Case might be linked under IH.

OK...well, cost is no issue, thus the best tractor is one that

  • has as many hp as you will ever need
  • is weight balanced for all attachments you ever own or use
  • has all the hydraulic ports you will ever need for FEL/GRAPPLE, TOP/TILT plus ports for a hitch implement with two or three cylinders
  • has every attachment you will ever need, even if it is used only an hour per year. Chain hooks, thumbs, toothbar, etc are all installed on the attachments as desired.
  • has a cabin/cab excellently sized for your personal size including your preference of radio, GPS, CD, AC/HEAT, etc.
  • has a transmission that you personally love..be it HST or otherwise
  • has excellent lighting front, rear and sides, for both near and far work.
  • has the traction mix you need regarding tires, 2 or 4 wheel drive, locking differentials.
  • has a wonderful excess of tool boxes and places to keep chains, guns, chainsaws, whatever you need to carry along, including a trash bucket.
  • Has switches to enable/disable safety switches on demand.
  • has physical and electrical mechanisms to prevent theft, easy to engage and disengage while being highly reliable, including a "lo jack" capability that can be remotely activated/deactivated.
  • has gauges and indicators well designed and providing complete information regarding vehicle status. Me, I'd like a light indicating when in 4WD.
Sure, I'm biased, I figure a 60ish hp Kubota tractor decked out as indicated above and with all attachments I could ever use would be my "best" tractor.

Not saying it is the best but I have the CC Yanmar SC2450 TLB.
I bought it at the last minute instead of a larger one, i do not have a lot of land so it ended up being the perfect size for what I have.
This tractor has more than enough power for everything I have done so far and has proven itself in stump removal, wall building, snow removal and just moving things around.
FWIW it happens to be the best tractor for the money for my situation and I love it, if that痴 possible.

My opinion:

Over 100 HP, John Deere hands down.

CUT: JD, Kubota and then NH in that order, but all three are pretty good.

Just my opinion....

I have a 1967 Ford 4000 and a 1967 Farmall 1206. "They" made pretty good stuff back then. I seriously doubt any of the new tractors, no matter what brand, will be around in 44 + years. It is sad!
I don't agree with this. A good Quality tractor today, will be a good quality tractor tomorrow. As long as parts for your "newer" tractor are still available why wouldn't it last? I owned a 1959 Allis D17, and it ran great, but I had to rebuild the carb every few years, and adjust the clutch, and if the power steering went, I had to have it split, and rebuilt, and on, and on. So yes it is still going. Why wont my Kubota L4400 last me till I die? I maintain it, and I will fix things as they go. Kubota seems to be around to stay. I am sure when they started to replace the steam tractors of the late 1800s, with gas tractors, the old Farmers were shaking their heads, and making the same arguments.

Come on now comparing old equipment to new? Someone said Ertl, surely some will say the iron wheel steam engines.JD seems to be the most popular in all fields, then Kubota comes up quickly, even in new equipment. and on..Mahindra claims to be closing the gap. They all work and all need parts, but the collectable toys....Jy.

no case is under CNH, which stand for Case, New Holland. they are owned by Fiat. new holland builds the majority of Case's tractors. there are some in each color that are totally different and some that share the same platform but have different features. around this area, the price of a case is more than a comparable NH.
