One could always try lifting front tires with FEL and seeing if lever pulls easier.
Or as others have noted, find that instant when there’s zero torque on the drive system and pull lever. Actually have a little pressure on lever, and when there’s no torques in the drive system it will release.
Try giving the pedal a short tap to accelerate and then let off, when tractor is neither accelerating (pulling) or decelerating (braking), this is when lever should move freely. With practice you’ll feel this balanced neutral moment in the seat of your pants and will know when lever will pull easily.
