There’s 2 fittings I can’t get grease in on my backhoe on the loader. One is leaking grease around the threads but it takes firm pressure to leak so it’s not the entire problem. I can probably tighten or change the fitting and fix that one. The other one the grease gun won’t seal to, but it takes firm pressure on the gun so it’s not as simple as a bent fitting.

A couple months ago I had a couple fittings that would not take grease in my MiniX .. I hit them for a few seconds with a small propane torch..and it worked...

Replace the fitting
They are not expensive. Most will need just a few turns with a 7/16 end wrench.

Depending on what tractor, you may have metric grease fittings, just fyi.

Another thing to try for a "stuck" fitting, is a grease needle. It basically goes on the end of your grease gun, and the needle end presses in the ball on the grease fitting, and you inject the grease in that way. Works well for forcing a stuck ball to open.

Replace both fittings or screw the grease gun directly into the machine. Get firm pressure on the gun then move the pin that is associated with the grease port. If that dosnt work then your prety much going to have to remove that pin and clean the dryed grease/dirt out. You will only let it go that long once because greas is cheap and easy. Fighting and removing a pin because i didnt take 5min a grease a machine is alot more of a pain.

I just got the machine and the best I can tell it’s been well serviced. It’s sat for about a year though.

A buddy has one of those. I may try to borrow it and see if it works and better for this job.

I have one zerk out of the 32 on the back blade, tractor, FEL and grapple that just refuses. Its on the grapple - new zerk = no joy. Solution - rotate the grapple jaws to a slightly different position - zerk takes grease just fine.

Either replace fitting or try using something like tiny punch (nail set) and press in on ball (not with hammer).. Sometimes ball just gets stick.... Learned trick working in gas station years ago when the actually did lube jobs....

No idea how old yours is, but the old JD BH I had needed about 14 zillion zerks hit (exaggerating - prob only 13 zillion). So whenever I had any that were difficult, I swapped them. Kept a set of fittings & wrench in toolbox. Was so much better to fix it once than to struggle with same fittings over & over. Any I "fixed" by just tinkering to get it to accept grease seemed like it was a problem again next time.

I just figured they must be full! HA HA

Recently I purchased a tool that you fill with grease then place over the fitting and hit with a hammer. Haven稚 got a chance to try it yet...

My machine is a 2011. The backhoe boom has been well greased and all took grease. The loader I don’t think was ever used and might not have been greased as frequently.

grease behind zerk is probably hardened up. if that is the case take zerk off and blow out with air gun.

Pull the zerk, clean the passage with brake clean and a wire then some WD, reinstall or new zerk and go,
royal pain but works the best in most cases,
also the impact type tools to my knowledge are to be filled with solvent or light oil not grease

I can handle removing the zerk. Removing the pin is a lot bigger job.

I ended up removing the pins and still haven’t got anywhere. This doesn’t have a simple hole for the grease, but it has a bushing in the cast arm. The bushing has a grease groove on both sides so there’s no direct path. I removed the grease fittings, cleaned out most of the grease, and filled the holes with Kroil oil. I’m hoping that works. I finally got grease through both sides. One gave up after the kroil soaking. The other required another heating.IMG_4603.JPG

For feature reference a lot of times a deep socket can be hammered on and slid in as the pins are being slid out and removed towards the other side. The socket holds everything lined up as you clean up the pin or bushing. Then just tap everything back in as the deep socket slides out.
