Pulling shrubs etc. : I've done this many times with a small Kubota B 7100 HST. First, loosen things up with the bucket. Then fill the bucket with dirt, chain and lift the shrub with the three point hitch and then drive away. You need a tool bar for the three point and be aware of the tractor front end getting light. That is why the bucket is filled with dirt. With some you may have to do more bucket work to loosen. This method gives lots of traction so be aware of what you are doing. Try and pull downhill if possible.

Those that have a good trunk may be pushed over with the bucket or chained high and then pulled over. Use the trunk as a lever to twist the roots around. When pulling remember the top of the tree will have a tendency to fall directly on the tractor. Usually it's push over with the bucket and then use the bucket on the trunk to lever it around.

Do a search for tool bars on this site. There will be many very nice ones. They come in handy for a number of jobs.

Yes I do know about hitching low. Known about that for over sixty years now!

No; I would not be doing it the way the fellow in the video is! He's been head wacked too many times.

It IS funny to see the tree fight back, even if it loses in the end!

We have a very similar tractor;a L3000DT and it's a work horse. Our "woods" tractor and amazing what it can do.Do not pull from the FEL,only asking for repair bills doing that.Hooks are for "lifting" and very handy for that.
Stumps can be very difficult;I have seen them stop a big dozer in it's tracks.I would dig around the roots and pull from the draw bar(not the three point).Definitely load your rear tires.

I use my brush grabber attachment I built for my grapple. But I have a lot bigger and more powerful tractor and FEL The clove hitch and short chain pull method can pull out a lot of brush with what you have, and is how I would do it if I had your equipment.

I have a 25' braided steel cable with a loop on each end. One end on the drawbar and the other end makes a lasso around the shrubs. Go slow and steady and even the most stubborn shrubs will pull out.

I'm new to using a tractor seriously...have a Kubota L2900, and I'm looking to clear off a bit of property that's got a lot of shrubs and bushes growing on it. A few of them have been cut down a couple of times in the past, so there's a decent-sized stump at the base (6-8 inches around).<snip>
Pics of "shrubs and bushes" would help.

I've had to clear a bit of land and what I found was most effective for normally rooted shrubs and bushes under 20' tall and with shallow roots was to wrap chain around the lowest I could easily reach then about 4 to 6 foot up cut the tops off, then pull. If I cut the stuff low it was easier for the chain to slip off.

Another thing I found to be VERY effective was a Pirahna toothbar in moist soil, lower it down, dig in slightly and cut everything off at the roots. Don't even try it in hardpan clay.

As far as the tractor - Buy the workshop manual and parts manuals. I know they are expensive but fixing one small problem may eliminate the need for a $250 dealer visit.

It really just depends on the shrubs and bushes and even soil types. If shallow rooted and lose soils some can be lifted out with the loader and others need to be pulled out using the draw bar. Deep rooted and heavy soils, can be made easier if soil is wet also. Just takes time to learn what' works best. I usually use a large chain, either wrapped a few times around the base, or use a choker type chain, harder the pull the tighter it gets, the one thing is to be very careful that what ever your using it doesn't slip off while under pressure.

Get an old wheel rim. Run your chain/rope over the rim between the hitch and tree/shrub. Will provide some mechanical advantage. Could do the same with a pulley atop a tripod or bipod.

Might want to put some netting or something behind your seat in case your chain or rope breaks. I always remember the time when my Dad was pulling our tractor backwards, using a chain between the 1957 Olds and the tractor. The chain broke and made a nice imprint of itself onto the hood of the car, fortunately just short of the windshield.

If you have a single shank subsoiler cut beside the stumps cutting as much roots as possible first. You can pull some roots doing this.
