BH65 Backhoe Crooked?

I recently upgraded to a new tractor, b2920 with backhoe (BH65). I have not used it as of yet, still in the garage. I was going over this am, and shoot, there is a cracked tooth on the backhoe (or so it seems, pic attached).

Then I started to look at the bh in general, and it seems to lean to one side more than the other. You really can't notice it, and I can't see any bent peices anywhere. When the bh is in it's "closed" position, like when you are just driving and have everything tucked in, the top looks a little like it is leaning to one side ever so slightly.

I am thinking since the BH is bolted on to a bolted on sub frame, that maybe the sub frame was not perfectly level, and therefor everything resting on it is off just slightly. Granted, not precision instruments.

I would post a pic, but it would be hard to tell if the ground was level, camera level etc. Has anyone ever noticed if theirs is off a little?

That looks like a crack...If it is a casting flaw, it's a deep one!

That's a crack alright, & it was cracked before it was painted.

You're right about the pictures, but if I had to guess, I'd say the top of the bh is leaning slightly to the tractor's right

I will email the dealer about the tooth. I actually think the bh is leaning to the left (if I am stinding behind the tractor). I am not sure how to tell. I may make sure the tractor is level and adjust it with the outriggers to get the tractor perfectly level, then maybe a plumb line?

And if it is off a little, should it matter? Part of me thinks I am being paranoid.

I sent Barlow's an email, and Brady called me back within 15 minutes. I wasn't expecting that. New tooth on the way. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

He also said the backhoes may be a little out of kilter, but probably not bent or anything like that. but, he said, if there is a problem to let him know.

That is really good service, I was not expecting an answer on the weekend.

I can see it, top is to the left, bottom to the right. Check your air pressure in all four, be sure its correct. ya may also check it with the loader bucket on the ground, front wheels slightly elevated.
Next if its still the same, I would dismount it from the tractor and check for any binding, and reinstall it after you check over the attachment points. Do all this before you use it.

I see that the hoe is not plum, where it is new I would get it looked at and fixed. First time you dig with it and something goes wrong it will be on you to work out the warranty issues with the dealer.

Hey - we chatted a bit a while back...

Looks to like the tractor itself may be a bit off kilter, and then the BH is compared to that.
I would take the BH off in the garage without using it, and let it sit on its base and check for upright, and see if the tractor levels out. (I do think digging with it cocked would always be a problem - canted ditch walls.) It may be tractor tires, etc., or something you can easily shim out in a mounting arrangement / realignment.
But you do need somewhere true to start. It took me forever to get my tractor to a trued neutral stance by itself, and then again with mower and then the bagger.

I was looking at it today, and maybe I have gotten used to it but I could no longer tell. Or maybe it was just cold outside and it did not get my full attention.

If anything, I would think the sub frame is not exactly even on both sides. I need to look at it this week and come to a conclusion. Sinking feeling about buying out of state now :ashamed:

About the most level place I have is in the garage, so that is a good first start. I just am not sure how "plumb" these really are, I mean they are not precision instruments. Barlows is good, but I am sure they have their limits with users that expect perfection, and I don't want to be someone that expects a German made fine quality vehicle for a machine that is made to work. But, then again, I don't want to use something that is flat out wrong either.

I would agree; I was thinking driver's side & when I realized that wouldn't work, I mixed up my L/R.

I will turn it around so I can get a better look at it while on the same plane as the tractor. I am hoping it is just me / my eyes. It was cold and damp out yesterday and today, so I was not too inclined to stay out in the unheated garage while fighting a cold. Plus, paranoid about not buying local too.

I think it could be the ROPS making it look out of plumb. But these bxx20 backhoes mount a little different than a BX25. The BX subframe was a part of the tractor frame. The b has a subframe that mounts to the main tractor frame(your already aware of this), and it has a little more play to it than a BX. Once you start using the BH, the pins will wear, and the pins on the subframe will start to wear also.
My fel is out of plumb. When I park the b2620 in the garage, the left side of the bucket touches first. If I could finish grade, with the fel, this might
be a concern. But I don't have that ability. I parked the BX25 in the same spot, and the bucket was always level. When I asked the mechanic at the dealer, about the unlevel fel, he said that was not uncommon.
Enjoy your new 2620. They are a step up from the BX.
