So I moved the compressors into the shop today since it's supposed to rain tonight and got a good measurement on them, the direct drive that I was planning on using is about 1in too tall to put on the mezzanine.
The belt drive is shorter but has more hrs, not sure which way to go now, really hate to lose all the floor space and really rather use the direct drive model.

I could always separate the compressor from the tank but then it takes up more floor space on the mezzanine.

Yes the meter is right. The compressor ran 8-10 hours a day five days a week for 8 years. It was from a paving plant and only ran 10 months of the year.

So it has relatively hours for its age. General consensus is it should be good for 50,000 hours with routine maintenance.
Where did you get the 50k hr figure? I'm planning on calling Quincy about lifespan, but from what I've been reading it looks like they should be good for over 100k hrs with book maintenance.

Nothing official. Just the usual fake news. 50K or 100K hours I figure is irrelevant to me. I’ll never get there.

I might even sell or trade it for something.

I can't remember, is that a tank, or is that the oil separator?
If it's an oil separator, leave it be or you will ruin the compressor in short order.

120gal res. tank, the oil separator tank is only a couple gal and located in the enclosure. I would still use the res. tank just relocate it next to the compressor instead of under it. Might do that and make a stand so the tank sits vertical to take up less room. It'll also be t'd into the 80gal reciprocating compressor so I'll have 200gal res.

I doubt I'll ever reach 100k on mine, reading through the manual and looking at them they really built them to last. Even the blower shaft seal has a replaceable wear sleeve.

I should have known you'd be spreading fake news lol. You had me worried for a min there, I'm at 48k on 1 and over 60k on the other, better not be on borrowed time.

Although they only cost me $500 each and both came with refrigerated dryers

In my world good timing is rarely timely.....
