Re: Big Barn痴 Retirement Farm Shop

In the mid 60s I worked at a gas station that used an infloor lift. It had two cylinders with racks on each. One lifted front of vehicle. One lifted rear. Two separate lever controls. A balancing act to lift level. It would somehow get air in it. The last couple inches of lift was violent. Enough that you'd think it was gonna throw the vehicle off. OSHA would have had a coronary. If they saw me as a 15yr old running it. :)

Our banged really hard at the top too. While it is air the real cause is low on hydraulic fluid I discovered.

Picked up the compressors today, awkward load due to how top heavy they are. Luckily they were just PM'd and the belt drive had the belts replaced right before being taken out of service.

They have high hrs but believe they were run in continuous mode so probably not a lot of loaded hrs. Build dates are 10/09 and 9/10 so not too old.

Think I got a good deal on the pair with refrigerated dryers. Oh and I also bought a nice office chair for the shop for $10 while I was picking them up View attachment 608656View attachment 608657
What cute little compressors :D
We have their big brothers at work (125HP and 300HP Quincy direct drive screw compressors).

There are cute little guys arent they, one of them is direct drive.

So when are you putting one of those big brothers in your home shop?

Nice load TMGT!

They’re the same age as mine. Just serviced also along with a brand new 40 HP Baldor. The other one was still good. I asked about the old motor but it had “disappeared”.

My friends only took this compressor out of service and replaced with a new one because they were looking for what they referred to as “closer to 100% reliability for running their plant.

BTW you may want to look for a good synthetic compressor oil OTHER THAN QUINCY OEM. These two pails came with mine.

Check out the price.

BTW find a good synthetic oil for it as the OEM Quincy is a tad expensive

The product is expensive.....but the tax is obscene!

Never, I don't have a need for anything near that big.
Even if I wanted to, I doubt that my electrical service could spin the motor over, let alone the motor and compressor.

How many hrs are on yours? Apparently these were in use for 9years without any issues/downtime so I have high hopes of no issues.
I haven't priced the OE filters and oil yet but as much as I use it the price difference might not be too bad.

Never mind, just looked up the QuinSyn, ouch! Found a couple alternatives that should work. Well at least the first part of their lives they got all OEM stuff!

Fortunately I didn’t pay too much for the compressor. (Less than the retail price of the filters)
