Only if it's hardwood! Those piney things don't put out much heat...and leave a gawd awful mess in the chimney! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Sure did, Ron! After looking for months, (not really thinking I could justify the purchase), my wife calls around and finds one used (so gently used the paint on the bucket is hardly scratched except for the teeth!!!). Bought it for $4k for our seventh anniversary!

Now I just have to wait for this $%*@# snow to stop so I can go get it!

That sounds like a good deal. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I’ll have to try that one on my wife. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif We are celebrating our 40th this fall. That should qualify for a good used Kubota 4690. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Keninro,

Thanks for the info! WOW! I figured it would be expensive but 5K for setup!

I don't think so.

I figured it would be about $100 hour to run the grinder and another C note for
the front end loader. So at least that was in the ball park but 5K for set up?
Yikes!

Even at $2,500 per day and I would need at least two days at a minimum. I think
I'm going to be burn'n! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif My permits don't cost a cent and they can burn
all the time as long as they are watched....

Thanks for the info. Gives me an idea of prices when I make the phone calls.....

There were lots of the grinders here in NC the last hurricain hired by the state to clean-up.
I talked to one of the crews and he said they were from Mississippi, and basically they worked for a year and took a year off. Of course the year they're working is a long way from home, 6-7 days a week, dawn till dusk.
With all the burning bans in this area now, this is one of the few ways a developer can legally get rid of the tree debris that's not sellable.
Plus the cost of dump trucks carrying non chipped material vs the chipped is greatly reduced.

I've got a 12" chipper that is really good with 2"-9" material, and ANYthing over 6-8" is fuel for my waterstove. I've done some local business on the side for $65/hr ($50 if the homeowner helps pull the material to the chipper).
