Yowsah - that's a lot of good eatin! My dad keeps catfish in his pond - and we used to joke about his daily feeding of them - but the results speak for themselves. They are not as big as these - but still mighty good.

Tony,A Hoop net is a large fishing net that is laid in the river channel.In our area at least,these nets are used mostly by Commercial Fisherman.

BTW, that fish is still a baby. The Kansas state record was 61" long and weighed 123 lbs. Taken on 5-14-1998.

Yes, they have commercial fishing license. they also run a bait shop so by talking to the customers they know where the big ones are. here in Arkansas you can use a hoop net, you have to have a fishing license an a permit for the net. You get a metal tag that goes on the net. If you are a commercial fisherman, you have to have all of the above plus a commercial license. The big ones are good to eat, but I prefer the channel catfish about 18 inches long.
