Maybe I'm being paranoid, but why are grapples, 4-in-1 buckets, forks, etc. standard in black while 3 point attachments come in bright colors?

Seems like for safety reasons you'd want brighter paint.

My 4-1 is orange:)

Black seems to be easier to spot repaint [ semi-gloss black ] and does not show rust much. I used to paint all my stuff Rustoleum Sunrise Red, but now just use the black. Paint your stuff what ever color you want.... Life is short, but it sure is good :)

Plus I think black is cheaper and if you have a green tractor would you want a orange bucket:D

Remember what Henry Ford said, "You can have any color you want, as long as it's black." His reasoning was that adding more colors would add cost to the product. It's cheaper to buy 10,000 gallons of black paint than it is to buy 2000 gallons of red, black, blue, green and white. Also it saves labor and changeover time.

Are you referring to '3rd party' manufacturers? They probably paint their's black to be appealing to as many buyers as possible.

My 4in1 and combo fork/bale-spike are painted JD green (made by an Aussie Co. "Fieldquip").

Some after market manufacture's will custom paint your attachment as you wish, for some extra money. The chipper manufacturers come to mind Woodmaxx says, "Black is the standard color, orange is $200 more".

That's a lot of green for orange:)

Because a ton of SSQA attachments are going on skid steers, not tractors, where they are used for construction by people trying to make money, and some long time ago Bobcat chose black paint for its buckets?

When I had a Deere 5105 with the proprietary Deere QA pin setup on the loader, my original bucket was green, and the aftermarket bale spear I bought to fit it was also Deere green. Nearly all other loaders use SSQA and black is the color that coordinates with all of the loaders, tractors and skid steers they go on.

I get the economy thing, but it seems weird that they'd default to black and not yellow or light grey or sky blue or something easier to see. Something about a black bale spear just seems inherently dangerous.

Everything Attachments will paint the grapple orange or green for $50, but the rear scraper or rake is yellow with no options. Seems like doing yellow standard for them would make sense.

But the obvious solution is for me to just spray paint the outside corners whatever high visibility color I want.

Paint it Hi-Vis yellow like all the t-shirts nowdays. Better yet, stab the tip(s) in the ground when not in use then it becomes a trip hazard instead of an impalement hazard.

+1, semi gloss black is the easiest to color match for touch ups

OEM no, aftermarket, yes.

Black goes with everything - While I'm cheap and would certainly use a Kubota OEM bucket if I could find one at a really good price, and I wouldn't paint it, it would sure look odd with my blue tractor. Everyone would think I had a Mercum. 1 forecast.jpg

If all else fails, black will always match the colour of your tyres. :)

In my own blasphemous way, I think all tractors should be J.D. Construction, Cub Cadet, or Case Yellow, with semi-gloss black implements/backhoes/etc....... But, that is why they don't put me in charge.....

Black is just cheaper, hides a lot of sins, and has good coverage qualities ie. one coat usually does it. Better coverage than orange ;-(

BTW My OEM bucket is orange!
