Question for you CUT owners with MMM mowers.

We see lots of people talking about bleed down (when a hydraulically acuated device like a loader or a back how settles with gravity due to fluid returning through the center valves, etc.).

Strangely, I've also noticed that a lot of folks with MMM will use their loader's to 'jack' up their machines to facilitate middle mower removal.

Now, I don't own a CUT sized MMM, but don't you get to puckering a lil while down in/under/around that deck?

Would you ever jack the tractor with a loader and ly under it on your back for repairs?

Spooks me it does. U?

The only time I ever used a FEL for anything like that was to once change a front tire----but even in this instance, I did it only to get an-already raised jack under the front axle. Once the jack was in place, I "raised" the FEL to get the front-end down onto the jack.

I've never owned a MMM but I think most people probably hoist the front of the tractor off of the ground and then detatch the mower and scoot it out from underneath to make it easier. I doubt most people are crawling under thier mower.n Again just assuming.

Bleed down and burst hose injuries are pretty common. I have a cousin that was in the hospital for 3 months when a brush hog ( not running) dropped down on him.

It is ok to use the bucket ro raise up the front, just use good stands or cribbing under there... just in case...you might not get a chance for a second mistake /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I use my loader all the time to pick the tractor up to pull the mower deck out, but I can asure you I am never under the tractor with it resting on the bucket. I just use it to get clearance for the deck to slide out. Before I raise it in the air, I unhook everything so the deck is free and waiting to be jerked out. I would never use it as a jack to work on it without jack stands in place. I don't even trust hydraulic jacks. If I am under it, it has jack stands.

As long as I've been on TBN, I do not remember anyone ever stating they get under a tractor that's only supported by the FEL. Lift the tractor up to remove the mmm, yes. Get under the tractor, never.

The scary thing is only a few o-rings keep you from getting killed. I'd never get under anything held by hydraulics including a Jack. I won't trust my life to an o-ring..........

Amen on those O-rings...

Those of us who recall the Challenger disaster will echo those cautions.

I can't agree strongly enough. This is exactly why I will never launch a tractor into orbit after a night with hard freeze temps.

Some people may claim that the o-ring problems have been pretty much solved, but there are already enough problems with using a NH as a launch vehicle that I don't need that worry weighing on me...

(Re-entry, OTOH, is a piece of cake. Just angle the FEL right and you get the correct lift and it worked very effectively as a heat shield)

I have to use the loader to get my mower off or on. But I reach over the mower with the loader, raise the tractor then roll the mower back. I then put the tractor back down on all fours to hook everything up. I never get under the tractor while it is up. Accoding to the manual I am suppose to be able to slide the mower in from the side but for the life of me and my dealer we can't figure it out. My dealer is thinking my tractor is a bit different because of the Supersteer. But even if I could get it in from the side I would not ever do it because of the weight of my deck.
