Ok, and this belligerent shop manager also told me that the girl that sold me the motor, the one I have been in communication with the whole time ...she was fired because of this ordeal.
Hmmm, I wonder if there are other unhappy clients who he is working with that she did something similar to...

Somehow I suspect that the girl who sold you the motor was not the one who did the initial inspection (if there ever was one). More likely it was the shop manager who told her what to say, thus the blow back.

Yep, he's just mouthing off and covering his lying butt

Now that's top tier management skills right there. Blame the help for problems he probably created by his leadership skills. I can only imagine how he treats his workforce based on his behavior with you.

My experience says to avoid a whizzing contest and if it goes on very long to just let the CC people deal with it. You keep your hands out of it, get seat time with a new engine and probably live longer from avoidance of stress. My experience with charge backs is that the CC people don't screw around and that the merchant reacts immediately for fear of having that card yanked from their business. Just my personal opinion.

Once I spent weeks trying for a refund. In frustration, I sent an email to either fix it or I was calling the CC company for a contested charge. Ten minutes later the refund hit.

He probably thought you called to complain...
Very unprofessional on his part...
Fortunately in the job I have I don't have this type of horse manure to put up with...
Hate it didn't work out for you...
I'm sure that eventually they will refund your $$$...
No excuse in their tardiness...

I don't remember how long they have had the motor back at their shop, but I would give them 5-7 business days, then dispute the charge with your credit card company...

I agree. Stay in professional mode. Just because they act in a crappy manner, it doesn't mean you have to.

Yep, give them a week and then report it. More than a week and they will try to forget about it. Based on your telephone conversation I would be inclined to call your CC company today and let them know about how who were treated... they normally ask you if you already tried to resolve it with the merchant directly.

I would be calling the CC company Monday and making sure they know what happened, before it goes sideways or gets past the date to solve it easily. It always takes longer to get the credit than it does for the charge, just the way it works. Does your new motor have a warranty?
