Blitz Non-spill Fuel Can

I have one. Used it for years. It can be a little slow when temperatures get below freezing. Batteries do not like the cold.

I use a yellow Blitz can with a fuel transfer pump that I got at Walmart for less than $20.00 called Flo'n-go LE. (large engine) Works pretty well. It's basically a siphon pump in the shape of a fuel pump handle with a four foot hose. You screw the unit into the Blitz can give the handle a few squeezes to get the fuel flowing. The can needs to be above the tank being filled to keep flowing but that's not a problem I just fold my seat forward and set the Blitz can on the back of it. It's rated flow is 2 GPM so it only takes about three minutes to empty the can. The nice part is that if you let go of the handle the fuel flow stops. While dealing with the hose and all is a little cumbersome, I haven't spilt a drop of fuel on my new tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So this thread is two years old, but I didn't have this problem back then. I've had a 2 gallon self venting gas can like this one for several years. It worked great for filling my Toro ZTR because the Toro had a big gas tank and a huge gas cap (filler opening), but when I started using it on the little walk behind mower, it was hard to prevent it from gurgling and splashing. That was solved by drilling a small vent hole in the top rear of the handle with a screw plugging the hole, but removed to pour. But now I had a need for another one, and after going to Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, Northern Tool, Auto Zone, Sears, and two independent lawnmower dealers, I found it to be as you see on Northern Tool's website; they are not for sale in Texas, or 11 other states and Washington, DC.

All you can get now are the spill proof ones like this one. The ones I looked at required so much pressure on the spring to open the valve that I'd be afraid of tearing the gas tank off a lawnmower. The lawnmower dealers tell me it's courtesy of the EPA.

You may have also noticed that the self venting can was $5.99 at Northern Tool, while the spill proof was $14.99. I found similar prices around here in the last couple of weeks that I've been looking for the kind of gas can I wanted. Well, today I made a short trip up into Oklahoma and while there, stopped in at a Tractor Supply Co. store. The 2 gallon self venting cans were $5.38 each.:p

There's a heck of a lot of misinformation in this thread. Here's the straight poop.

Blitz has manufactured three designs of portable tanks.
The pull-n-pour is the old style with the flexible neck and venting cap. This design is no longer manufactured and the cap won't fit the other two designs.

Blitz's self-venting spout vents through the spout and is prohibited for gas or diesel or kerosene in Ca, OH, Nh and Ct. And ONLY in those states. It is prohibited for gas in Tx, Pa, Md, Ny, De, Nj, Me, DC and some VA counties. It is allowed for diesel or kerosene in those later states. It is legal for gas and diesel and kerosene in all other not-mentioned states.

Blitz's spill-proof is the spring loaded cap spout that everyone is grumbling about. It is legal in all states.

I noticed that some of you guys are from Pa, Tx, Nj etc. Well the self venting for diesel is legal in your states. But the self venting for gas is not.

A few months ago I went shopping for self venting diesel blitz cans on ebay and noticed that two big sellers wouldn't ship to my state (Pennsylvania) as they said it was illegal.
I sent them an email asking why they are cutting themselves off from so many states when it was legal to sell diesel self-venting (but not gas self-venting) cans. They contacted Blitz and now they will sell to my state residents.

Now you probably think that I'm blowing smoke but you can check for yourself at the Blitz web site. To help you and verify my statements, here's the web address-

I'm on a roll tonight... so might as well comment...

Another perfect example of regulation run a muck. The mower shop in my neighborhood has had nothing but complaints with the "New" gas cans and has decided to no longer sell any portable gas cans...

One of the biggest lawn equipment dealers around here has done the same thing. They'll sell you the equipment, but you have to get your gas cans elsewhere so they don't have to listen to the complaints.

Just a thought from my warped little mind. Why not get a group together and every one take their lawn mowers and garden tractors to a busy Gas station line up and buy 50 cents worth at a time. Maybe then the Idiots .. sorry the well meaning people that made up these regulation would come to their right minds .

You would probably need to have the news media around to film it too

Just a thought
